Hi ladies,

I dont post much, but I am a June 09 MP bride. I just got back from a stay there and it was amazing. You will all love it! They were doing a photo shoot for a beach ceremony set up while I was there. I took some pics to share with those of you who are wanting the beach. Here you go...

Those photos are beautiful - thanks! I'm def doing a beach wedding - it was behind our whole reason for getting married in mexico. And working on finalizing a mexican trio for the ceremony, and mariachi for first half hour of reception!

Does anyone know of any out-of-the-box ideas for entertainment for really making the wedding a memorable celebration? Friends of ours had a surprise fireworks display with the Beatles song Love in the background right after they cut their cake. At their wedding in Los Cabos. It was beautiful and we are looking for something totally different and fun to make the wedding super special... and a great party wink.gif

I haven't even figured out what I'm doing for my reception yet! ...I should really get on that. I think I'd like to have in inside though, as opposed to on a patio. My wedding is at 1pm, so there will be a gap between the wedding and the reception...I was thinking maybe a cocktail reception, dinner in a restaurant, and then a private dancing/desserts reception...but I don't know. I'd like to do a private dinner too. I guess it just all depends how many people end up booking and how much it all costs.

I read something though about how having an indoor reception is nice, to avoid bugs, sun (depending on the time of day), and it's a little cooler. I went to a wedding in Jamaica though, and the outside reception was just fine...but I wouldn't want to drag my dress around in the sand all night!

Good luck! Keep us updated...I love to hear ideas!

Hi Moon Palace brides!

I am starting to feel really jealous of all you who are such good planners. My wedding is scheduled for 5/25/09 and we have signed the contract. But other than the save the dates and getting a local travel agent to coordinate all my guests I haven't done much. I did email the contact person in Miami and she told me that I couldnâ€t do any planning with the on-site wedding coordinator until three months before the wedding. It sounds like most of you all are much further in the planning process that I am, should I be worried?

I do have a few questions:

1. I would like to bring an outside photographer, what is the procedure for getting this done?

2. We want a private reception for 40-50, can someone give an estimate on cost?

3. I am pretty low key so as long as there are some flowers and we are able to use an IPod for music and the reception is outside I am pretty unconcerned about the details. Is this going to come back and bite me later? Do I need to stay on top of the details if I want this event to be tasteful?

4. When people talk about welcome and farewell dinners are these "private functions" where the per person fee applies or did you all just show up in a certain place together?

Thanks in advance for any advice that anyone can provide.

Best,

Serena the most unbride bride ever!

hey serenah, i'm sure your planning will come into place in no time! i'll try help as much as i can:

1. you can use an outside photographer, but you will need to source them yourself. You will also need to pay for a day pass for the photographer and any other staff they may have...as far as moon palace are concerned, they don't mind you using an outside photographer as long as they are a guest at a hotel - thats where the guest passes come in. With this in mind, any outside photographers i have contacted have also required a room for the night...they have said it doesn't matter where, so doesn't necessary have to be at mp.

2. I'm not sure if the prices vary depending on being inside or outside, but I have only looked at prices for the outside private reception...this is $400 per table of 10 for 2 hours..then $60 per hour per table of 10 after that.

3. I am the same, i don't care if there are no flowers at all on the tables!! As far as the ipod music goes, you can hire speakers and lighting....we have a bose portable sound system, so going to take that and hope they provide lighting for us!! :)

4. I think most people either use the dinner option included in the wedding package, or simply arrange to all meet at a specific restaurant. We are going to book one of the sunset cruises for our welcome dinner...it works out about $52 per person, but this includes the meal and booze...I just think it will be a missed opportunity if we don't lay something extra special on for all the people who have travelled with us.

Hope this helps you.
