Trashing the Dress - answers please

Recommended Posts

in my opinion, its best to do the day after session/TTD because typically, you are rushing around on your wedding day trying to meet the timeline and people dont realize that it takes AT LEAST an hour to do a great romantic session to get a good variety of backdrops ect. it takes time to warm up to the camera too. that hour i recommend on the wedding day does not include all of the family and bridal party shots. your pictures will be as good as the time you invest into them. the best thing about doing a shoot on the day after is, you can let loose and not worry about keeping the dress spotless and hair/ make up too. some brides wont be adventurous for a good photo on the day of the wedding in fear of getting the dress and themselves messed.

It was just a fun day after shoot for us where we could get some unique pictures which really showcased why we chose a destination wedding in the first place! We loved the beautiful blue waters and to get some relaxed pictures when we could just have fun was priceless to us! And I used my regular wedding dress. It actually cleaned it!!

I can't wait to trash the dress! I think most people on the forum liked their TTD pics the best. I'm wearing the same dress, but I wasn't planning on keeping it anyway. If it doesn't get ruined I might hem it short & wear it again (it's casual). I'm not sacrificing valuable closet space to hold on to it forever. I'd rather have some great pics.

they definitely were the best pics we took. i used the same dress b/c i have no sentimental attachment to it. i wasn't going into the ocean before the actual wedding so those had to be done the next day. however, the nighttime pool pics weren't planned, and kinda just happened. they are some of our favorites as well, but involved 'trashing the dress' in a way. the ttd pics, rather than traditional portraits, are much more indicative of who we are. we're also not the type of people to have a 'regular' wedding, and figured that a ttd session would be the perfect time to get pics that show who we are together.
