Do you get super nervous the night before you fly?

This is our second SUPER early flight to MX. We have to wake up at 4am. Just took a Unisom to help. Does anyone else get really anxious/nervous/excited about leaving to the point where you can't sleep? Last time we did this I had to take anti anxiety medication and I still didn't go to sleep until 2am! lol I'm silly I guess...

BWAHAHAHA Martin just peeked to see what I'm doing and starting chuckling that I'm on BDW...

I've noticed as I've gotten older that I start to think about it. I love to fly though, so I think it is usually more excitement or nerves that I forgot something, or I don't want to go where I'm flying. Visits with the in-laws are always interesting to say the least. Now that we're engaged I guess they figure I'm sticking around so they can be nice to me. In the early years it was a little tough!

I have a friend who is terrified to fly. She has to take Valium before she can get on the plane and usually hits the airport bar before hand too. One of these days they aren't going to let her on the plane! That is why she isn't coming to my wedding--the plane from Louisville to Memphis was "too small"!

It happens to me all the time, whenever I flight I cant go to bed early than 2 or 3 am.... very bad when you have an early flight as yours... dont worry you can catch some sleep in the plane and as soon as you arrive to PV you can go to catch a bed at the beach and have a wonderful SIESTAAAAAAA!!!

I don't get nervous to fly - I just get anxious to leave! :)

Our last flight left at 6am so we went to the airport at 3 & we hadn't fallen asleep til 1! LOL

Just imagine how relaxed you're going to be while you lay on the beach once you get there! :)

*Quick check in from the Denver Airport*

Well, I managed to fall asleep around or just before 11 which is good for me! Had to take a lot of stuff to get to sleep but... I slept! lol I also passed the heck out on the flight from Dallas to Denver this morning. FI was laughing at me. wink.gif

When I was younger I had trouble sleeping the night before a flight bc of excitement, I used to love flying...now that I'm older I cant sleep the night before bc I'm sh*tting bricks!! Last year I even had to take an anti-anxiety drug to calm my nerves.

I must agree, the older I get the more nervous I get when I fly. I just prepare my-self that I'm not going to sleep that night; watch movies, drink a few glasses of wine, take a walk and take it easy. If it's a short flight then I just suck it up and take a cat nap on the plane.

If it's a long flight then I try to stay up, making my-self tired, so I will sleep on the plane. When I get on the plane I take a valium or something to relax me and bring an eye mask...sound asleep.

When I do fly long flights I try to catch a red eye when ever possible...makes life easier.

I lived abroad for many years and had to take many many trans-Atlantic flights though I hate to fly. For me there are 2 keys:

1) An aisle seat

2) Xanax

And no booze on the plane, as that makes me feel worse and more anxious.

Don't be afraid to talk to your doctor about getting something to occasionally help with anxiety!
