Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

awesome, this is really helpful. And any stragglers just called her directly to book? Did you block out flights too? The last travel agent I spoke with said that if you don't block out flights your guests might end up without a flight or a really expensive one.

Also, when did you start booking the flights and hotel?

we had to schedule our wedding like 8 months out and are rushing everything.

Thanks!

clgriffi, this sounds almost exactly what my travel agent got for us. I used a friend of the family (Kim Grammar from i-travelagent.com [email protected]  if any one is interested)

We were able to have a slightly smaller block, though. We only had to guarantee 8 rooms (Kim told us that the minimum for a group booking was 6) and we ended up booking 10. I loved getting the call that the rest of our stay was paid off through free-night credits ;)

Sasha, as for letting our guests know, Kim and her wedding specialist Gail basically re-vamped our wedding website with all the travel info, and I included a card in our invites with Kim's contact information. Also from my experience, the rates were pretty close to what I was able to find online (a little better).

I haven't heard anything either...sorry.  Trying to be patient..... I think the paper lanterns would look nice, but I am not sure if it is worth the effort.  Since my cocktail hour will be after sunset, I would feel the need to put the LED lights in the paper lanterns and that seems like it may not be worth it.....  What are you thinking?

Welcome to the forum.   We have a few agents on here that have a great relationship with Dreams Resorts (I got married at Dreams Cabo) and have been able to negotiate perks with the 3G promo (every 6th room free, upgrades, etc.)   Please go to this link and fill out the form so I can assign you to the TA that is the best fit for you.   http://www.wrighttravelagency.com/leads/inquiry/

Did you guys block off rooms? How do you coordinate everyone?

Can someone please advise. I'm desperate :(

Thanks!

I'm new to the forum and just starting out on the wedding planning. Who knew picking a resort would be so difficult! I think I have pretty much narrowed my choices down to Dreams Cancun, Now Jade, and possibly El Dorado Royale (I love the chapel they have).

Dreams Cancun has that gorgeous gazebo so it seems perfect, but I read on a few travel forums that they may be doing some contruction/renovations there in the Summer/Fall of 2012. Has anyone else heard anything about this? I'm aiming for October 2012 and obviously don't want to take a chance of having noisy construction going on in the background!

Also, I'm wondering what everyone thinks about the pools at Dreams Cancun. The only time I've been to an AI in Mexico was at Excellence Riviera Cancun so I was sort of spoiled by all of the lazy river pools and the amount of poolside space to relax with a group. It seems as though the layout at Dreams Cancun doesn't afford that opportunity as much? This is the reason I am also leaning towards Now Jade

Any help would be greatly appreciated - so thankful I found this forum! :)

Ahhhh! I know..... shots.gif

Yours is right behind mine, the two month mark made the wedding feel super close and too far away at the same time!

Luckily for me, my little brother is getting married this month and bought a ton of battery operated LED lights for his centerpieces, so we split the costs and the lanterns I'm looking at have a handy place to clip the lights. I think as long as Claudia will hang them for me, I will use them. Now my only concern is how big that terrace is and how many lanterns to hang. Does 36 sound like a good number? (too many, not enough? help!)

Also, now that we are less than 2 months out, I feel like I want a little more information about how this whole thing works. I just want to know if we get to correspond with the photog and videographer before we get there, or at least before the wedding? I wish I heard back from Claudia more often....

Did you visit any other clubs/bars while you were in Cancun that you recommend?  (I bet most of the ones from when I first went are not longer open...)

Thank you! Seeing these make me feel better, since I booked right after Juan was no longer the photographer. Did you get anything from the videographer? My wedding is only a week after yours, I hope Claudia starts sending me more info soon! Yay, we're so close!
