I do know that Secrets Capri (a sister branch of Dreams) has a fireworks option for $780 in their wedding guide. I also want them (we were engaged under fireworks). This is also in Cancun, so I wouldn't see why it wouldn't be allowed. Could you let me know when you find out? Also, I was thinking if they didn't allow them, maybe they'll let you do sparklers. I was thinking that would be a cute photo opt for the first dance.... have guests hold the sparklers while you two dance.

Hi everyone! I'm new here and waiting for contact from Dreams. The form said I would get a response within 2 business days and it's been five. I have a feeling there is going to be alot of waiting in the next year and a half. Blah!

I also feel there will be alot of waiting but I figure it will be worth it. I emailed last Tuesday with the request form, I just want to get a contract on a date. ALl my relatives are coming from the United Kingdom and we really need a date set as the flights are a bit of a nightmare in November!!

Hi Ladies...

Quick question....about what % of people you invited are actually coming to the wedding? Our guest list is right around 190 right now....so I'm hoping less then 50% are actually able to make. I feel terrible saying that....but from the prices you all have listed....a 100 person private reception is going to cost a fortune!!

Thanks!

Nbills...WOW 190 people! We invited 60 people and about half are coming. With just the 10 extra that we have coming we are spending a fortune for the few extra...I cannot imgaine what it will cost if you have almost 100 people come. Remember anything over 20 people and you start paying almost $100 per person more. Everyone has a different budget and in the end it will be cheaper than a reception at home. We split our guest list up - some of the people we are just inviting to the at home reception and we didn't invite to Mexico.

Hope this helps.

nbills--190!! holy crap i dont think i even know that many people lol! well we invited 100 and it looks like 40 to 50 are coming, and with that its still more than i really wanted to spend. have you already officially invited everyone? if not i think you and FI should probably try to cut down the list, just in case wink.gif

andim--we are doing a rehearsal dinner and having it at one of the restaurants. we are only inviting the people who are actually in the wedding so that it doesnt take away from the reception the next day. that list (with spouses and flowergirl parents) is around 20 so they will be able to have us all sit together and we wont have to pay for a private dinner. on a side note, we are hosting a private welcome dinner to say hi to everyone and hand out the OOT bags. Cecilia is charging us 12pp for this so i would assume it would be the same for a rehearsal dinner, if you decide on a private one.

Wow....$100 a person...was not expecting that! I thought I saw an option for $40 per person extra for dinner. We are skipping the cocktail hour in lieu of adding a few extra people to dinner (I thought I saw on this board that that was an option with the packages). I'll definitely need to confirm the extra person charge. Still waiting to hear back from resort around requested dates. Good thing we are looking at Marck 2011....we'll need the extra time to save more money!!! Yikes :)

Thanks for the response!

.
LOL...yes, that was my initial thought...190 people! We haven't sent out save the dates yet...so we aren't committed to that number. We unfortunately both come from large families (60 of the 190 is family not including kids under 1cool.gif...and we are pretty much the last couple in all of our different friend groups to get married....so we've attended quite a few weddings over the last 3 - 4 years...and feel like we need to invite all those people who invited us. What are your thoughts on that?? FI felt pretty strongly about including everyone whose wedding we attended. Don't get me wrong...I'd love to have a huge group there to celebrate....but I also don't want to go broke paying for the wedding since FI and I are fully funding the event!!

Yeah I understand about big families(out of the 100 we invited only 15 are friends)!! And I see what FI is saying about inviting those who invited you, but you also want to remind him that you want a marriage not just a wedding, you know? I would just hate to go and have a great time and come back to a bunch of bills!! There are a lot of friends we wanted to invite but we just told them that we need to keep it small to stay in budget, and they understand. And we are having an AHR a couple of weeks after we get back. I wanted to do a back yard BBQ type thing but FI wants something a bit more formal so to keep costs down on that we are only inviting the people we couldnt invite to the wedding. It's all a give and take, especially in this economy!!
