Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know about the buffet menu?  We have exceeded the 40 person plated menu option, so I was just wondering if anyone knws anything about the items on those menus.

Thanks

What did you choose/are you choosing for your menu?  What was good, what was not?

With the Ultimate package are we allowed to mix and match courses from the gold and silver menus?

Thanks

Courtney

I hate to be dense, but what is chocolate napoleon?  Anything with the word "chocolate" in it sounds like it will be good, but just wondering.

We had the ultimate and we mixed menu's no problem at all. We had the citrus scallops (i would not get these) I would get the ceaser salad it was awesome! Then we had the lobster bisque, this was just ok. For our main we had the dreams trilogy, it was awesome everyone loved it. For desert we had chocolate napolean also good.

I would have changed the lobster bisque for the seafood chowder, i had that at our rehearsal dinner and loved it!

I'm booked for March 2012!

When I think about it practically I don't think the wedding cake will matter so much since the guests will be served dessert. I almost wonder if the cake will mostly go to waste because of that? I think I will have a cake large enough for only 2/3 of my guests because I expect less than half will actually eat it. I've heard it's an extra $100 for an outside vendor so I may just stick with whatever Dreams Cancun provides.

Reading reviews from past brides, they say exactly what you are thinking - guests don't eat the cake because of the dessert.  But past brides do say that the Dreams staff will take the leftover cake and keep it in the fridge for later on when you want it.  So you can order some up for room service or get all of your guests together the next night to chow down.  Imagine how great of a picture it would be to have all of your guests with their forks in your half-mangled wedding cake just going to town!  What other type of wedding gives you that opportunity?!

I am doing the buffet and I have the menus if you need them. We interchanges items as well I think we even picked something from the non buffet menu. I don't have the info with me right now but I think we switched one of the main dishes out for the chicken suprema and Claudia said it was no problem :) PM if you have more specific questions I have a few emails from Claudia I can go through.

I got an idea from another brides post (sorry I can't remember her name) but I'm going to buy individual slice cake boxes and have the staff set them by the cake then your guests can take a slice or two back to their room in a cute monogramed box :) no hassling with room service.

Another question for past/planning brides:  Would you recommend bringing paper lanterns to decorate the Terrace for the cocktail hour?

I believe I have seen a picture from a previous bride where she had paper lanterns hanging from the terrace.  Does anyone know if Claudia & crew are willing to hang these for you?  Based on the lighting already at the terrace, do you think this is worth the effort & money?  (my cocktail hour will be after sunset)

Thanks!

here is the picture I was thinking of (had seen it on Juan Navarro's website):

For my later cocktail hour I would need to hang lights in them (there is a good thread on BDW on how to make the lights), but I am not sure if Claudia would be willing to do all that...

I thin the bride that did this uses this site because I also recently saw this in the review section. Maybe she can tell you how she got this accomplished.
