HELP!!! I have been searching and searching for the UMBRA ETHER frame, hoping to make it into the frame to use for our sand ceremony, with NO luck! Does anyone know of another brand of frame or know were I can find a DIY site to look?

I bought my engraved sand ceremony frame from an etsy seller.  It wasn't cheap, but I think the engraving makes it worth it:

Do you think the sand will shift on the airplane ride home? I wanted to do it but the more I think about the more I'm thinking we will end up having to do it over once we get home

There was a thread started not too long ago titled:  "To sand ceremony or not?..."  and below is my post in that thread.  Hope this helps.

 

 

I am not married yet but I can give you a bride's view that is planning to do it.

 

1.  I have attended local weddings where they did a sand ceremony and I thought it was really meaningful.  At one wedding they actually chose to have many different colors and involve the bride and groom's parents.  (The parents poured first - "laying the foundation")  I also love that this is something tangible that you can keep from your wedding day that you can display next to a framed photo from your wedding day.

 

2.  As for getting it home - I think a frame might be easiest.  I ordered the following frame from etsy:

The frame came with the following instructions (I don't have them with me so I am paraphrasing):  The part of the frame that holds the sand is a clear plastic box that fits into the frame behind the etched glass.  The box is removable and has a hole on one end only.  After filling the box during the ceremony you tape over the hole at the end of the box and flip it over and insert it into the frame.  So now the hole of the box is pointing down and is inside the frame so it cannot empty and the cut-out in the top of the wood frame is now over a solid part of the plastic box.

 

Two things I will do: 1.  After the ceremony I plan on tapping the frame/box to settle the sand as much as possible to fill it up to the brim - repeating a few times if necessary.  This way there will be no need to redo it once you get home.  2.  possibly putting something (like a piece of a cotton ball) between the sand and the tape before I flip the box over to make sure the sand never makes its way past the tape

A previous bride said she put hers together and sent it to Claudia.  Then Claudia gave it to the officiant.  However, she took an extra copy with her in case the officiant didn't have it....  (which sounds like a really smart idea)

What did you choose/are you choosing for your menu?  What was good, what was not?

 

With the Ultimate package are we allowed to mix and match courses from the gold and silver menus?

Hi, 

 

We had the ultimate and we mixed menu's no problem at all. We had the citrus scallops (i would not get these) I would get the ceaser salad it was awesome! Then we had the lobster bisque, this was just ok. For our main we had the dreams trilogy, it was awesome everyone loved it. For desert we had chocolate napolean also good. 

 

I would have changed the lobster bisque for the seafood chowder, i had that at our rehearsal dinner and loved it!

I was told that to use any outside vendor, there would be a $100 charge.  I am assuming that would mean a baker as well.
