I just emailed Paloma today, stating that it is unacceptable at this point to have no clue what is going on or have anything planned/booked and that we have our TA looking at other options for resorts. Hopefully we hear something back soon, and if/when we do  I will be sure to let you know!

I will let you know also if I hear anything. I'm like a crazy lady checking my emails all the time!

Most brides to be on here are getting married in tulum or coba so it's unclear if Akumal is really busy for weddings or there's not a lot of Akumal brides on here.

Fingers and toes crossed we get something sorted soon!

I met a bride from this forum whom i've been chatting with quite often offline. She's getting married at Akumal the week after me (while I'm still at the resort) and she dealt with Eugenia. I've been hearing more often that she's unresponsive than most other WC.

No, neither of us have stayed at this resort before. I really have no idea where the Arelquin restaurant is, but I believe they are one of the gourmet restaurants. We picked the beef filet option for dinner.... here's a pic of the menu she sent me. Sorry it's kinda cut off at the bottom, it was the best i could do with taking a screenshot. :)

In the beginning, I didn't hear from her until a week or two after I send them, but she's been pretty quick since a month ago. She replied pretty much within the same day sometimes.

She confirmed my ceremony location, the time, and the dinner location for me approx. 2-3 months after we booked with the TA. She confirmed the poolside reception for me as well around the same time. So I essentially had a timeline of the day relatively early in the planning process.

That's so strange that some coordinators are more on the ball than the others, you'd think that they would all go off the same guidelines but maybe not.

On a more positive note... you must be getting sooooooooo EXCITED!!! I hope your wedding day and your vacation end up as everything you'd hoped for... Congratulations!!

Hi ladies!

Arlequin restaurant is just outside of the Akumal lobby.  It has a beautiful view and is an amazing restaurant.  They typically don't offer it for weddings, so if you're offered it, I'd jump on that.  Delicious!!  My photo tour: http://faberphotography.com/gran-bahia-principe-akumal-photo-tour/ has pictures of the steps to the restaurant, the inside of the restaurant, and the view.  I hope that helps.

As for the wedding time and reception time, try not to stress about it.  Everyone always panics about what their guests will do... TRUST ME, they will find something.  Some will go cool off with a quick dip in the pool.  Some will go to the bar.  Some will lay in hammocks and enjoy the surroundings.  Please don't stress about that part, I promise it'll be okay!!

For the new photo packages, I will update those right now.  Sorry for the delay!

Alright gang, the OFFICIAL thread has been updated with the new photo pricing.

Just as a reminder, for full day wedding coverage (8 hours) it's $2800.  That gives you 160 photos (plus the free ones that are included in your package).  I would like to point out how crazy expensive that is.  To put it into perspective, I typically charge $2750 or less to fly to the GBP and take pictures.  It's all day coverage and includes between 600-1000 photos.

Thanks!! Yeah, I'm getting more and more excited as we speak, and checking this forum does make things even more exciting with other brides chatting with me. I will try to enjoy the day and let you guys know how the wedding went.

I'm there for 2 weeks, one for the wedding and the other a mini honeymoon with the new hubby. So if anyone has any questions about the resort or things that I can figure out for you while I'm there (without having to hunt down a WC), let me know and I'll try my best to check them out for you ladies while I'm there.

We have about 30 people coming. I figure that's a good number so that we have a good amount of family and friends, but not so many that we'll be worrying about everyone the whole week. How about you guys?

Since you have been to the resort before, can you tell me where the best spot is to sit and enjoy live music and have drinks after supper other than the hacienda? Is one lobby bar more lively than the others? Or would you just suggest to go to the hacien  da?

Thanks,

Liz :)

I find the Coba lobby to always be lively.  Tulum, on certain nights, will have a DJ outside which is fun.  But in my experience, Coba always has something.  Plus they have the wine bar which always has live music at night.
