Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Some advice needed from anyone who has already been to this resort... Our wedding is at 2pm at the gazebo in Tulum - we couldn't get a later time because of other weddings. I'm concerned about what the guests will do between the ceremony and dinner. It's symbolic so my guess is the ceremony will be quick and our photographer said he needs 90 minutes after for pics. That would take us to maybe 4pm...and we likely wouldn't do dinner until 5:30-6. That leaves our guests dressed up and entertaining themselves for four hours! Any suggestions on what we can tell guests to do? I know most of the ladies won't want to change back into their bathing suit, just to have to change and get dressed up again. I also worry that if we just leave them to their own devices everyone will end up going to one of the bars and drinking for those 4 hours and then end up being super trashed at our dinner. sad.gif Suggestions??? I was thinking that maybe after our photos we could have our guests meet us somewhere (an indoor bar where it wont be as hot?) and we could do a few celebratory cocktails and our speeches there while we wait for dinner. Then dinner will just be eating and maybe our speech and then we will do the poolside reception after. This is so much time in between though...I am really not sure what to do. Are there any indoor bars that are open during the afternoon/evening? Ahhh, help me please!!! :) We wanted to go away so it wouldn't be stressful planning but now I'm getting a little anxious about this timing... Thanks in advance for any ideas!
My wedding is at 3 and dinner at 6. Ceremony is 30 minutes, legal or not. Group pics are at least 30 min, which brings us to 4. I will invite the guests to chill or have a drink or two at the bar. I don't think there are any bars that have a/c.. I'm prettu confident that no one is going to get trashed, it'll be our 5th day there so I think they should all be laid back by then!

HIya I will pm you the price list I received from the hotel and along with the brochure - the brochure photos are so dated circa 1980's so its best if you email a photo of what you want and they will advise if you can have it or what the extra costs will be My friend is a florist here in Scotland so she  made up a bouquet of what I wanted then I sent a photo of it over - it was made exactly how I wanted it and all flowers were in the package so I had nothing extra to pay for.
I remember you emailing me the catalogue...I have it in a saved folder- the 1980's reference reminded me of it! Lol Good to hear you didn't have to pay extra for certain flowers though. I'll do what you suggested and send a picture. Thanks again :)

Hello past, present, & future BRIDES. I have sad news (for me that is). My fiancé and I have recently decided to push back our wedding a couple months :'( we were due to be married may 16 2014.. I'm extremely devastated even though I know it will still be taking place I just feel like my dream wedding has been crushed for the moment. I have been laid off from my job of 12 yrs in June due to closing and we've had other things take a turn for the worse.. This is why we have come to this descion. We are looking to have the wedding in sept or oct of 2014 but I've heard that's their tropical season..that saddens me as well..I just want to be married :(...

Sorry to hear that! The positive is that you will still be able to go, just that its a few months later. Try to focus on the good things in your life right now. I know that's easier said than done but it will help you keep your chin up.

Hi ladies! I have a question, hopefully some one can help me out! So, We have 90 guests confirmed for ouru wedding February 19th next year!! Woo!! but what I'm wondering is where the heck we're all going to fit! It's very important to us to have a private dinner and reception. But the pool area would be too small, no? I'm stressing out! Help!

Just wondering if anyone has used the musical trio for the ceremony (ie. walking down the isle and such)? DId it turn out ok or do you wish you had used music from a CD? I really want to incorporate some Mexican vibe into the day and besides actually being in Mexico, I thought it might be nice to have some live musicians play soft Mexican/Spanish music for the processional/recessional... any thoughts??

Hi Ladies- just wondering if any past brides have used the Salon services at the hotel for you and your bridesmaids.... What did you pay and did you think it was worth it?   I would like to pay for all of my bridesmaids to have their hair done for the wedding but would like some feedback/opinions from those that have done this.
