Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I have to say how thankful I am for this blog. It keeps me from stressing out!

I haven't been able to decide on a bouquet yet, and I need to email Jazmin back (not that she is waiting on a email from me) it. Does anyone have any suggestions for a yellow flower arrangement? I would love sunflowers but Jazmin said that it wasn't available.

Also, is anyone doing programs for their guests to tell them where to be etc? and timing? when are you giving them out?

Also what do I do about a rehearsal dinner? I figure there isn't much to rehearse, but still. It would be nice to have the group together pre-wedding.

Last question, has anyone received the working for the ceremonially wedding. We are getting legally married here, and I don't want any religion brought into the wedding down there.

THANKS

Nice to see another Calgary bride on here!

Did Jazmin send you the flower catalog ? I woudl start there and it shoudl tell you whats available.

If you're loving yellow - you could do calla lilies...or all yellow roses?

Im giving my guests a welcome booklet with all sorts of info in it..including the itinerary for the wedding day..and just general info about the resort and what it offers...popular excursions to take..etc etc..

Ill be giving these out at our 'Welcome Breakfast' the 1st morning we're in Mexico.

We're having a rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding - and its more just to get the bridal party on the same page about the wedding day...where to meet..what time..etc. And to hand out our bridal party gifts!

Can't help you on the ceremony part - as we're doing the legal thing in Calgary first

The thickness of the plug into the sound system made it impossible to plug in a charger at the same time as playing music, so we plugged in our iPhone and manually played songs while we charged the iPod for 20 minutes (I didn't have the dance playlist on phone, or we would have just switched over). I think that bigger iPods have bigger batteries, maybe you could borrow one from someone and put your playlist on that? The iPhone was perfectly fine for battery life and didn't go through so fast - maybe you could put the playlist on someone's phone?

Perhaps my iPod went through the battery quickly for some other reason, but I do remember Eugenia mentioning to bring a fully charged one, so I think it's likely been a problem for others in the past.

Fraggle - our plane didn't have a hanging closet so I carried on my dress and laid it out in the overhead bin. It was a bit wrinkled in the back from how I carried it but I had it steamed once I got there - did it the day before and it cost only $12.

What a bummer. I thought all speaker docks charged the ipod whilst they were plugged in. Better get a back up plan because 45 mins of music is no good for our 3 hour reception. Thanks for the info.

Great Review Cheeky26

I'm just looking to email ahead and try and pre-book some a la cartes, i've been on the website with the menu's and the restaurants listed are -

Arlequin

Don Pablo

Le Gourmet

Tequilla

La gran Tortuga

Frutos Del Mar

Dolce Vita

Mediteraneo

El Pescador

Oriental

Mikado

El Charro

I don't recall anyone mentioning Oriental or El Charro on the forum, are these still there or were they ever there...and is that all of the restaurants apart from the buffets? Any recommendations?

Thanks

Nic. Xx

Hi Nic!

I returned a few weeks ago from the GBP.  I ate at Le Gourmet, Mikado, Arlequin and Don Pablo.  I would DEFINITELY recommend Le Gourmet.  It was great, and the service was unbelievable.  By FAR the best restaurant we ate at.

Hope that helps!

What is the best format to bring our music down for the ceremony? We were planning to load it onto the ipod, but I wonder if burning a cd is the better route?

Thanks

Nice to see another Calgary Bride on here! From what I've been told - as far as the ceremony goes - it HAS to be on a CD and CANNOT be in MP3 format either. You're getting married at Akumal so it might be different but I would check with your WC. For the reception i think you're safe with ipods as the DJ can just hook it up.
