Hi......can anyone who's been married here from the UK tell me what the deal is with the documents....from what Jazmin has told me and what I've read, we need to take the English original documents of both of our birth certificates & my deed poll document from when I changed my surname when I was younger....we also need to take Spanish translations of these which have to be certified by a solicitor....Thomas cook also say that we then need to have all 6 of these documents legalised by the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office as well.....is this necessary for all of the documents? Does anyone have any contacts on where to get this done at a reasonable price?

Also does anybody have any recommendations on which excursions are good? We want to go to Chichen Itza & Coco Bongo's but can't decide on what else there are so many that look good! Is it cheaper to book before you go or whilst in resort.

hmm this is interesting. I had asked Maria so many times if the price of the package would decrease if we don't need a minister and she said no. We're already legally married in Canada and our best friend will be our "minister" for our ceremony. I think the best thing to do is to negotiate with your WC once you're in resort. It's impossible to get an accurate straight answer from them. We're departing in 10 days and wedding in 15 days

Contact Andréa Salazar from Mexicosol. http://mexicosol.com/ She is amazing, knows Riviera Maya very well and she can arrange many kinds of excursions. As for Coco Bongo I will be going there for my bachelorette party. I've heard it's a blast! There are different rates for if you want admission only with unlimited drinks, with transportation, admission with seating area/table service, with transportation...you can also ask Andréa or there should be a CocoBongo rep at the resort as well. We've been to the Mayan a few times, and had wanted to visit Chichen Itza also but felt that it was much too long of an excursion. We've been to Coba and Tulum ruins and they are both wonderful, you can get great Coba excursions that include a visit to a Mayan village, and a few other fun activities. The Tulum ruins are right beside an amazing beach.

 

We've done the ATVing through the jungle and it was a blast, so was the seadoo snorkelling trip. Xcaret park is very interesting if you are interested in culture, and it is great for families. And be sure to spend some time wandering around Playa del Carmen's Quinta Avenida!

Yeah, my sister went to Itza and it's a FULL day excursion.  So that was exhausting for her, but she said it was cool because you can still climb some of those ruins. 

Tulum is gorgeous and the public beach just south of the ruins is actually where I do my trash the dress sessions.  It's amazing!

Xel-ha was super fun for my fiance and I too.

You'll have to keep us updated on the price of the package once you talk to the coordinator face to face. Were doing all the legal stuff here in Canada a few days before our wedding in Mexico. It would be nice to save some money lol

Coco Bongo is AMAZING!!!!! it is a Vegas show and a dance club and just general amazing-ness all together. I am planning on having my bachelorette party there as well!!!  Just be aware of time when you go, because my friend and I accidentally missed the bus home and had to take a taxi back at 4am. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT THOU!

 For sure, I'll give a full review. Maria responded to me emails about the website pricing but was not helpful at all!!! When I started planning Paloma was my contact for date/time/location and package information. Paloma sent me the package information but it was very minimal...Civil Wedding, Symbolic Wedding, Mayan Wedding were the choices she originally gave me. So I picked Symbolic because we knew we would marry legally in Canada before travelling to Mexico. But the Symbolic Package really didn't include much of anything and I noticed on the resort website there were several categories for Civil Weddings. I emailed Paloma and asked if I could switch to a Civil Wedding package but without the minister/legal fees, since we wouldn't need it. Paloma said yes but there would be no discount for any inclusions that we didn't need. And now the website is publishing wedding package rates without minister/legal fees and Maria said basically locked in. They are very inconsisent with their information. We will for sure be doing some negotiating.
