Hi Racheal,

Thanks!  I did not make them myself.  I ordered them through Vistaprint.  I considered doing a DIY STD, but honestly, with everything that keeps happening with my FI's health and me working full time plus care-giving, I knew that they would never be done.  I wanted to give our guests at least 12-13 months notice.  

I really like the STD I picked out though! Super simple, with our wedding colour, which is also the same colour of the FI's cancer ribbon.  I can't believe how inexpensive Vistaprint is.  Most likely me and my artsy bridesmaid will make the invitations.  I am just not sure what I want yet.  There have been many cute inspirations on this site though!

You are getting married very soon...you must be so excited.

Wow, every time I go to post something I feel like I need to thank so many people. You girls are so amazing! I wish I could invite you all to my bridal shower because you've been more support then my girlfriends here! Lol

 

Anyways, just seeing if anyone out there has examples of seating charts. I have been thinking of idea for making one, but I've never done it and have no concept of how to do it! Thanks so much!

Hey girls,

We arrived back home from Mexico yesterday and I will definitely be posting a review soon, but i read a few of the recent posts and wanted to let you all know that our dinner was at the portofino, we had 3 tables of 10 and we had a few people get up and speak there (fathers, MOH and best man) and it was hard to hear, we decided to wait until our poolside reception with the microphone to do ours.

 

Also I would highly recommend DJ Bijan, we had him for three hours and even after paying for his guest pass we saved money compared to the resort DJ, he also announced us, and the first dance and the father daughter dance, not just played them.. He took requests and would probably say, announce anything you would want. He also speaks perfect English and you can send him a list of songs before hand to make sure he has them.

 

 

As far as our music for the ceremony, we just brought my iphone with the songs on it and they played it from that!

As far as the 1 o'clock ceremony, I was actually kind of upset about having it at this time but in hindsight I am so glad we did. We we're at the Akumal beach location, and although it was really hot there was a beautiful breeze to cool everyone off, and the symbolic ceremony is only a half an hour. We took Picture of the entire group for about 30-45 minutes, then had time to take wedding party pics, have a drink with the group, take just bride and groom pics at the haceienda and a few other locations and still just made it to supper on time!

I have found some wording for the sand ceremony involving our children. Would the minister be able to read this small piece or do they not speak English? Thanks
They are very good about incorporating your own wording...just have it ready to give to your WC when you meet with her :)

Hello Ladies,

 

First Iâ€d like to thank all of you wonderful brides and brides-to-be who have contributed to this forum. I have found it tremendously helpful and reassuring.

 

My questions pertain to the reception dinner.

 

I would very much appreciate any reviews people could provide on the a la carte´ restaurants at the Gran Bahia Principe Coba/akumal/tulum.

 

Weâ€re looking for a restaurant that has delicious food, vegetarian options and a nice ambiance for the occasion.

 

Furthermore, has anyone actually utilized an off-site florist (ie- Maya Diseno Floral) and did you encounter any hiccups/hidden costs etc.?

 

May 8th is the big day! Weâ€re getting so very excited!

Jazmin told me this about the included music: For music during your ceremony, In the package is included music from a cd player, but it is an standar, for the bridesmaids we have instrumental music, for the brides walks we have the wedding march but in a nice pop version and during the signing moment and at the end of ceremony more instrumental music

I think the microphones are simply so people can hear, not necessarily because of the wind.  It's hard to hear someone talking at a normal level with the waves crashing, birds chirping, kids playing in the water, and of course, the wind.  So the microphone helps.

 

Ceremony time... who is your photogrpher?  Are you going with the resort photographer or flying your own in?

If you're going with the resort photographer, then I don't think you have much time after your ceremony with them for photos (please, someone who has used the resort photographer chime in here).  So then you'd probably get the 4pm ceremony time. 

If you decide to bring a photographer with you, I'd highly suggest an earlier wedding time (2 or 3) so that your photographer has plenty of time to take photos all over the resort.  This also will allow your guests a nice break where you can have a cocktail hour with the band. 


OR, you could do a 3pm wedding and you and your husband could join them all for the cocktail hour.

So it'd be 3pm wedding, 3:30 done.  4:30 you'd be done with photos (if not before then).  4:30-5:30 cocktail hour in the lobby with the mariachi band.  5:30 shuttle arrives to pick you and your guests up for dinner.
