Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi brides, so my wedding is fast approaching 16th April 2012 4pm at the akumal beach location, we travel on 10th April and we have got 49 guests coming with us for 2 weeks.

We are having the resort photographer, ceremony at 4 ( We have 4 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls, 2 ushers, best man etc...) followed by 45 min saxophonist and a toast, I was hoping after this the guests could go to the akumal lobby for drinks whilst we have photos done????? Our wedding meal is in the dolce a vita which is where we will have the speeches and we are having the cocktail party with 3 hrs dj set, i have decided to go for the basic bar package and hopefully we will be lucky and get a full stocked bar, our guests all love a good drink and party so should be a great day/ night.

Can any of you recommend anything else to make the day special?????

can anyone tell me what the Mayan ceremony and how much it costs???

Hi Emily - congrats on your upcoming wedding!

Sounds like you have everything in place! I think it will all be fantastic!

As far as the Mayan Ceremony goes - I would just ask your WC -
What I do know is that it's EXTREMELY long. So if you're not wanting everyone having to sit through a very long ceremony in the sun - I would suggest just keeping the regular ceremony. The Mayan ceremony is beautiful and very unique..but again..painfully long. You're call tho!
Good luck!

I know for our dinner we had the trio band play for 45 mins so 2 hours was perfect for us, but if we didn't I think it would have been too long.  Like Trish said 1 1/2 would be perfect!!  Also, Portifino is amazing everyone in my group loved it!!!!!

I'm getting married in 2 weeks at the akumal hammock location! Getting very excited...

Im canadian and am going to get USD to take with me, I'm just wondering if anyone knows  if the spa, photographer and most excursion tours accept visa? I'd like to bring down as little $ as possible..

Also I have the Portifino booked for 5:30 and the jacuzzi pool at 7:30 for the poolside party, I know a few of you have had a similar layout so I'm just wondering is two hours too long for dinner? Or will this flow smoothly?

Thanks!

For those of you that used a resort DJ were you able to make requests?  Or bring an ipod with your must have songs and have him mix them in during the reception?

I am trying to find our perfect wedding son..and in the process i am finding lots of songs I want to hear at some point!

We requested songs all night.....some he had and some he didn't.....so if you have must have songs I would bring them just incase as we did with our first dance songs!!!  He did an awesome job and everyone had sooooooo much fun!!!!!!

Welcome! Glad I was able to help.

Andrea2006 - I was told by my WC that we could bring our iPod for the DJ so he'd play the songs we want. I've got my playlist in full-swing too!

Welcome Emily!  Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!  Sounds like you have an awesome group going with you so I'm sure it'll be fantastic!

Andrea, I brought CDs with the music I wanted to be played.  But it was REALLY important to make sure they weren't MP4s like Ipod music is.  It had to be able to be played on a REALLY old boom box.  Like, pre ipod boom box.  They might have upgraded the sound system since my wedding, but you're better safe than sorry.

Ahh, I'm so glad to hear this Kristi as I have been having doubts about the resort Dj. Thanks!
