Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Yeah, it seems to be a common problem with this resort.  I think it's because the resort photographer only takes a few quick pictures after the ceremony instead of a full blown bridal party photo shoot, so for them it's not an issue.

I would push back at the WC and ask for a 2 or 3pm ceremony.  There might already be a 3pm ceremony, which is why you were given the 1pm option, but I'd still push back.

My options given to me by my WC are:

a. Change the ceremony to 1pm

b. Change the dinner time to 9:30pm

I feel that a 9:30 dinner is way too late, plus then there is no time for dancing. On the other hand my FI does not like the idea of a 1pm ceremony due to the heat, and the beach being busy.

Any thoughts or solutions?

Thanks Tlseege, I've pushed back so I'll see what come of it. I'm sure I can come up with an alternative, but I'd rather just have everything flow easily.

Now another question, for our private poolside reception after dinner if we just order the 'Specialty Cocktails' does the resort allow any outside liquor to be brought in? Being Polish I know my family will expect vodka, is it possible to pick up a few bottles in town to bring to this part of the wedding?

AD2012- I did a rehearsal dinner at the main buffet in Akumal. WC Booked it for 6pm so we had half hour of privacy as it didn't open to the public until 630, no extra cost and it was great! We only did it so that we could do toasts and have everyone together before the big day and talk last minute details and what time to meet etc.

As for the drinks at the poolside reception.  If it's REALLY important to you, then perhaps you should look into bringing your own.  But I will say this.  I paid for the cheapest drink option at my poolside reception... and we were served everything.

Cheryl paid for he cheapest option at her poolside reception (Coba Jacuzzi pools) and they were served everything.

So if it's worth the chance that maybe you'll be unlucky and they won't serve it, then I'd bring your own, but from everything I've seen...

Thanks Crystalz.

I will ask my WC about it. She mentioned we could dine in one of the specialty restaurants but I don't want to use up everyoneâ€s dinners.

I was married in April and it was a very busy time of year.  I don't think December is as busy, but has anyone actually got an upgrade?  I know that we got the building that I requested, but we didn't get upgraded.

Which resort are you staying at?  If you're staying at Coba, they don't have anything to upgrade to except for the Club Golden.  All of the rooms are the same.  If you're staying at Tulum, I'm almost certain that all of the rooms are the same as well.  Maybe they have a few suites, but since it was the first resort built, I thought they were all standard rooms.  Akumal has suites and normal rooms and club golden, so perhaps you could get upgraded?  I haven't heard of it though.

Hey,

Can I ask which building you requested and why?  We're travelling with Sunquest, does that mean they have a certain section? How much more is 'the Club Golden'?  What perks do you get?  Can you purchase it when you get down there?  Or, through your travel agent?

Thanks.
