Hi girls

 

Well up till now (13 weeks) before my wedding I was a sensatori bride and decided to change! The travel agents have swapped our hotel and have just put in request to the hotel for the 21st April. We have our rings inscribed with this date.... ((((fingers crossed)))) Looking forward to speaking with you girls. The resort looks fantastic and there is sooo much to do )))))

Hiya Kell, 

 

We're getting married the day after you in Tulum and are having the same concerns regarding what documents are needed.  We were told by Thomas Cook that we needed Birth Certificates translated, certified, etc but our email from Jazmin said that we only needed our passports and tourist cards. We could do without spending £200+ if not needed, but at the minute we were thinking of just doing it to be on the safe side.  Wondering if you had found anything out???

Hello ladies!!!!!!  I'm back!!  The resort was amazing, Cheryl was a GORGEOUS bride (as was Kristi) and it was awesome!

 

I toured all three resorts, I have pictures of ALMOST everything, including all restaurants and the place settings... well... almost.  I might have missed one or two. 

 

The maracas are $2-3 in the hacienda (you can even see the price tags in the pictures).  Here are the pictures of what they look like:

These ones are $3 and bigger.  They also have them in the colors below, but I wanted to show the variety of options. 

 

 

These are the small $2 ones

 

 

The walking photo tour will be coming shortly, but if anyone wants to see something before i'm done just let me know.  And i have a trash the dress teaser on my facebook page of the gorgeous cheryl!!

 

Oh yeah, and if you're getting married there... bring one of those tiny foldable umbrellas.  If you don't need it, great, if you do... it's better than running across the resort and getting soaked!  Trust me, I know!

Ok, so far I have been very relaxed about the whole wedding; next week we're 4 months away and I'm starting to freak out, I feel like I am so unprepared!

Expect many questions from me in the upcoming weeks, but here are a few to start:

 

1. We're doing the symbolic ceremony, does anyone have a copy of these vows? Are we able add our own, and can we incorporate our own readings?

2. I have not seen much information on the cocktail hour for after the ceremony, does anyone have the options, costs, etc? (We're getting married in Akumal).

3. For dinner, I was thinking of not having a seating plan but I am rethinking that. We're having our dinner at the Dolce Vita, what is the table layout. If I have a seating chart can my WC just put the name cards down prior to our arrival? How does this part work?

4. To DJ or not to DJ? I'm torn between whether or not we should use a DJ for the poolside reception. Does anyone have feedback on the resort DJ, and feedback on the iPod speakers they do provide?

Don't worry, you don't really have to be very prepared.  The wedding will be amazing no matter what!  I will answer your questions as best I can.

(We're getting married in Akumal).  I took pictures of where my cocktail hour took place.  It was in the "coleseum" at the bar.  I actually think it's called Bar Tulum or something like that.  But just ask your wedding coordinator if she can organize the tables so that it makes your group have a private little area.  Then it'll be free since it's an open bar to the guests of the resort (but very rarely do guests actually use it at that time of the day unless it's raining).

How does this part work?  I have pictures of the Dolce Vita that I can attach tonight when I get home, but they have round tables that can seat 8 (not very many of them) and they have square tables.  I would assume they'll push the square tables together to make longer tables unless you ask otherwise.

4. To DJ or not to DJ? I'm torn between whether or not we should use a DJ for the poolside reception. Does anyone have feedback on the resort DJ, and feedback on the iPod speakers they do provide?  I'm an advocate of the DJ... but I've never seen the iPod speakers in use.

You don't need anything translated. We brought our birth certificates but we didn't need them. We photocopied our ID front and back and emailed it to Eugenia along with our witnesses couple months before the wedding. But other than that she just needed our passport and tourist cards.
