Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

More panic! Finally heard back from GBP and I can use my brother as a witness, bringing my total to 3, but the only other guests are my parents which we aren't allowed to use & friends/relatives that only arrive 2 days prior or under 18. What can I do!? Will/can they provide me with one!? Also, I have been emailing Karla for 2 weeks with no reply, so eventually contacted Paloma who is CCing Maria - has she taken over from Karla!? Any help/advice would be great Gemma xx

Babyshaws,

My husband and some others went golfing at the Bahia. For us at the time (some promotion or something) the green fees were free but you had to pay for the cart, which was $65 and the rental clubs were $35. They paid $20 for a sleeve of 4 balls, and my husband said in future he would bring his own. The course is beautiful and they enjoyed their game. They transport you from the lobby to the course and back again.

Hope that helps!

We did the legal ceremony, including the blood work and all the witnesses. We just received our legal certificate in the mail on Friday(just under 3 months after). I thought that it was going to be translated and that's all I would need but I was sadly wrong. I went to go change my name on my drivers licence and they told me it has to be translated and they have to fill out a form as well. Not sure what is required for other documents such as passport, SIN etc. Ive contacted a translater who is in the process of translating the certificate(costs $50) and then hopefully that will be it and it won't have to be notarized or anything. I'll keep you posted and let you know how it goes, and if there are any more issues. I really didnt think it was even having to be translated so that's kind of dissapointing but it doesn't seem to be too much hassle. Would have been nice to know before hand for sure.

Problem solved - finally got an answer as I went to Paloma & she has said that they can provide one. Woop woop! I then asked her if it was Maria that I should be contacting as she had made a comment about her being Cobas coordinator (it's exactly the same email address). I've been dealing with Karla since last Feb so I'm confused as to where she has gone, why nobody let me & most likely others, know about the change & why nobody has been answering my emails for the past 2 weeks. I know they started 'Dear Karla' but surely someone was reading them if it's the same email!? Hopefully it's all sorted, have emailed Maria with the many questions that I have been asking! Xx

I did get some clarification on the legality of the ceremony from Vital Stats - you are legally married it is just not registered in the province that you reside.  For things like adding spouse to health insurance through work, having to wait the 3 months for the certificate to come in might make things tricky.  We have been common-law for over 12 years now so for us this does not make a difference.  Vital stats said that I will need to get the certificate translated to have my name changed on all documentation.   I am thinking of just applying for a "Change of Name" and not worrying about waiting the 3 months and having the certificate translated.  This costs around $100 to do.
