Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am getting Married and the Coba on May 24, 11.

You are not expected to pay for anything or anyone.  I attended a destination wedding last year as a bridesmaid and paid for my dress/shoes/etc...I am not paying for my bridal party, but will still give them nice bridal party gifts.

When my friend got married she invited people on an excursion as her way of saying thanks, not everyone will come.  You have a large party, so no matter what you decide it will be pricey.  You are right about the OOT bags, most people will have and bring their own items.

I would go with a gift for your bridesmaid, you already bought their dress, shoes, and jewelry.

C.

abbie32-.......that is so crazy!!!  I am getting soooo excited...I guess you are too!!  We are getting married at 1 or 2 on the beach.  You should email me so we can chat about all our plans... we have 30 give or take a few ppl...you know the 'late bookers'! lol I saw you were asking about OOT bags I am doing them for sure. I figure if people are going to spend the money to be there on my special day I can at l can at least show a little appreciation by getting them a little something.  I am doing the Wedding Week Survival Kit, and I am filling it with a few things but all the things are pretty cheap but everything will be personalized.  For example; chapstick with labels printed on the computer that say something funny, koozies with a personalized funny logo, and a few other things.   I have gotten a ton of ideas from this website.  Although if I were having 60+ ppl I don't know if I would.

We arrive April 1st and leave :( April 8th....we are not staying.....booo....  We should get together for a pre-wedding drink!   Anyway here is my email addy.....less than 3 months away eeek!!

Hi Abbie, I was thinking of doing maracas for favours, any idea where to get them from?  Everywhere I look are like the professional type!!!!

So, I was wondering what wedding favors people are doing? Does anyone know of a cheap excursion for 65 people? haha  We're going to give out maracas as a wedding favor but I was thinking I needed something else. I probably don't need anything else and I'm just being crazy.

One more question... I have 6 bridesmaids and I paid for their dresses and jewellery and bought them flip-flops to match the dresses for the reception. Do I have to pay for their hair as well? The spa prices are pretty steep if I'm paying for 6 people to get their hair done. I was thinking I would rather get them a small gift. What are you doing for your BM? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My FI keeps reminding me how they didn't give much of anything for their wedding and I had to pay for my dress but I think differently and men don't care. hahaha

Were you planning on doing personalized maracas? If not and you have time before your wedding, you can buy them in playa del carmen. I think they were around $1.50 or so but if you were buying a ton you could talk them down for sure. Or if you wanted to personalize them I'm sure you could do so yourself after you receive them if you have time.

I did personalized cherry blossom fans from weddingstar.com. Theyre not the cheapest but they were really nice and everyone really liked them. Its a good idea if your wedding is on the beach or an uncovered area, so that guests can keep cool. Looks like for pictures too! We also did personalized shot glasses that cost $3 each.

Hi abbie32

Originally i thought of doing OOt bags for my guests, and all the stuff i would want to fill it up with (travel sized sunscreen, bug spray, after sun, hangover kit, crossword books etc) and it got really expensive.....plus not everyone will use whats in the OOT bags so it would be a waste.... and i'm on a budget so i've been told. LOL Eventually we decided to get our guests travel mugs (Bubba Kegs). Its something that they can definitely use down there and they can also bring it home to use. We got the men mugs that hold 52oz and the ladies are going to get mugs that hold 34oz.  And I'm having 38 guests coming down to mexico. I spent about 8 dollars a mug. We thought about doing a private sunset boat cruise on a catamaran, but it was the same price for our honeymoon resort so we scraped boat cruise. As for BM's....i would go ahead and ask your BMs on whether they would pay for their own hair. It shouldnt' be a problem, you've paid for their dresses, shoes and accessories.and your right...the spa prices are expensive and you don't even get a discount!

all in all.....do what makes you happy...its your wedding. :)

Maybe you could take your group on an excursion to Tulum.  Its probably about 10 - 15 minutes away from the Gran Bahia and admission is about $4.50 US per person, I think they only take pesos though.  It would provide lots of great photo opportunities, a fantastic beach and give your guests a chance to learn some history.  You can hire personal guides once you get to the ruins that willl provide you with the history.

Hey ladies,  I think I sent the information (flower catalog, cake pics) to all the people that requested it.  So if you didn't receive it, let me know.

I posted last week about how I won a contest to have dinner with Randy Fenoli from TLC's "Say Yes to the Dress", while he was visiting Houston.  Thank goodness, I don't think I will be on TV or anything like that.  They had a group of about 10 vendors from the Houston wedding extravaganza at a dinner in the private wine room at Tony's restaurant (expensive and ritzy).  Me and my fiancee were the only people besides the vendors, so we just tried to blend in and listen to their conversations.  I was sitting next to Randy, so that was pretty interesting.  He's really nice and funny!  For some reason, they made Randy a martini with cotton candy and grey goose.  It must be some inside joke, but he really got a kick out of it.  Each person at the table had a little name place card, with an edible fondant cake shaped like dresses sold at Kleinfeld's.

I'll try to attach some pictures below.
