ok ladies...a couple more questions for the ones who have already been married here

1. did you get your makeup done at the spa? what did you think?

*reason i'm asking is, i don't wear a lot of makeup normally, but want to look good in my pictures. i don't know if i should attempt something myself, or get someone else to do it. i've never had my makeup done professionally before so i don't know what to expect. do you think it would be best that i go to a place like mac or sephora and get my makeup done professionally there and take a photo and bring it with me to show them at the spa what i want done?

2. has anyone had their dinner at mediterraneo, portifino or el pescador at coba?

i think i am leaning towards mediterraneo, or portifino since there are more options.

what did you have to eat if you did eat at those places? did you have more than one option.

i have a few guests with food allergies (myself included) has anyone ever paid a little extra for a couple meals so the rest of your guests don't have to eat something boring?

when i explained to karla a couple months ago the situation she suggested having a vegetarian pasta as our only option to accommodate everyone. FI wasn't too keen on having his wedding day meal be vegetarian.

any advice on either topic would be appreciated. thanks so much!

I did not have my makeup done at the Tulum... I don't wear much make up either and the thought of having my face caked with stuff just grossed me out. I found that with a tan I had nice colour and I just did my eye makeup and lip gloss. I like to look natural.
I have been to both of your restaurant choices and I totally loved the Portifino I found the food amazing there and the decor there is super classy.. Your wedding will be very elegant there. That restaurant has the buffet bar for starters and then we ordered our meals. (not sure if you are limited to one meal because it's a wedding) that would be totally stupid when it is a fully functioning kitchen. I would try asking Karla more questions because that makes no sense that they are limiting you so much. I hope this helps?? sorry if it only adds confusion.... Let me know if i can help.

The Alequin I am not sure if they would allow you to do a wedding dinner there. It is a very small restaurant, it kinda tucked to the side of the main buffet. There are doors to the buffet there, there was buffet people that wondered in while we were there. I think they thought it was just an addition to the buffet. Very nice restaurant "classy".

When I got married the Arelquin was NOT an option.

As for makeup, yes, I got my makeup done there. i DON'T wear makeup, but I knew that for pictures I needed it. So I sucked it up. I had a picture with me, as did my sister. We laughed pretty hard because neither of our pictures looked anything alike... but she applied the same makeup the same way! LOL!! We both looked very pretty, I thought. But, I didn't let her put eye liner on me (as a non wedding wearer, that's just too much for me), and I brought my OWN mascara... cause that's gross.

geesh, Im so confused.

When we were there in April nobody told us we cant eat in different sections. We had reservations in Akumal, Tulum and Coba restaurants. Plus, we ate at all the buffets?

I asked Paloma and she basically said eating at all over the place wouldnt be a problem...

Im really concerned beacuse we are going to have some guests possibly staying in the Coba section while we will be Akumal- If we cant have meals together I would be really upset.

Im going to email her and get a straight answer...will let you ladies know

You're allowed to eat anywhere at ALL 3 resorts and you're allowed to book the a la cartes at ALL of the 3 resorts. We were there for new years week so this recent experience. The hotel doesn't give a crap which one you're staying at, you can eat at all of them... you're just not allowed to block off some restaurants for the wedding dinner that's all. When it comes to the wedding dinner, if you have some guests staying the Coba, some at the Tulum and some at the Akumal, the WC will of course make exceptions. They're VERY good. Don't stress!

oh this helped...i'm glad to hear someone say they liked the portifino and that it's a classy, elegant restaurant. at the buffet bar for starters what kind of options did they have? how many guests did you have when you were there? i'm still waiting to hear back from karla to see what she says.

i'm still undecided about the makeup. i think i might get a trial done here first so i have something in mind at least, or maybe attempt it myself. that's what i'm going to do about my hair. how bad can it be right?! haha...
