I'm back and officially MARRIED!

I can't even begin to say how happy we are with our wedding experience. I must say that everything was beyond perfect. Jazmin is absolutely wonderful and had everything arranged......I can honestly say that I barely did anything other than send some emails. My suggestion to all of you future brides is DO NOT OVER PLAN. I had no expectations and feel that this is what allowed me to FULLY enjoy our day. Honestly the atmoshpere is beautiful so don't worry about little things....it will all be gorgeous.

We had Erick (claudia rodriguez photography) and he was great! He speaks perfect English and had some great ideas for photos......i'm excited to see the results. We also had some photos included in our wedding package from the resort photographer. Juan took some AMAZING photos (180 of them)......we loved them, but only purchased 35 for two reasons. First, I feel confident that Erick will also have captured many of the same moments. Second, the resort photographs are quite expensive. We were charged $15 per picture (they would give 10% off if you purchase more than 50).

After our gorgeous wedding ceremony in the Tulum gazebo we did pictures and then met our group at Gran Tortuga for dinner. The food was excellent and I recommend saving room for the last swords.....mmmmmm to die for.

At 8pm we went to the lobby bar and danced the night away! The band was great and even intorduced us to everyone and played a "first dance" for us. All of our guests are still raving about the great time we had. It closed down by midnight and then our party moved to the snack bar and we went to our room. Our room was decorated with rose petals, champagne, and chocolates.

AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! I can't believe that it is over, but I will forever remember all of the spectacular moments that we shared. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone getting married.

hello i am getting married april 20 2010, at he akumal beach site. i was wondering if any past brides brought there own decorations for reception or ceremony...and if so what? just little extra things? i am wanting as much info as i can get on any aspect of the wedding

Welcome and congrats... I just got home from the Tulum which is the sister hotel of the Akumal... I have been to all three hotels and there amazing.
Your hotel has the most beautiful beach area.
In regards to decoarations for your wedding ceremony & reception, you can bring decorations, their very flexible. I bought stuff: Bows for the white chairs at the Gazebo (not sure if your having the gazebo or beach area wedding) for the dinner I had center pieces for the tables and decorations for the cake table. The blue bows I had for the wedding ceremony were re used to decorate the poolside reception.
OOT bags are a great idea and there is a huge thread with a million ideas to fit any budget. I would look that up for some thoughts....
The only thing you have to do is keep in mind you have to carry this stuff with you... Just to give you a reality check here I had about 350 lbs of luggage. My hubby and I had 208 between us, with large carry ons and a wedding dress. I had family carry suitcases for me aswell. I can only speak for myself, it was worth every second, every penny, every sleepless night, every ounce of sweat getting it all there. I loved it and so did each and everyone of my guest.

Congrats! Thanks for sharing your information about your wedding. I haven't really planned much as I just want to go with the flow mostly when I'm there. It's reassuring to know others who have done that and were happy with the results. We're thinking of going to the Tulum lobby bar afterwards for some dancing/drinks as well. The resort pics look good as well!

58 days to go for me...can't wait!

Welcome back! It sounds like you had a perfect day! I am glad to hear Erick was good; I am also using him for my wedding on April 28/10!
