Your pics are gorgeous Janet!

I'm kind of glad that we started planning late because I don't know how some brides wait a year for their wedding.......we have only been planning for a month and I already can't sleep.....i'm so excited to get away and be married!

oh Janet I'm so glad you posted photos! It looks like your wedding was so beautiful! And you were a GORGEOUS bride!!! :)

As for the resort photographer (I didn't use them... so I can't say much), but double check the SIZE of your free photos. When I was getting married they were really weird sizes. Like 6x7 or something completely odd.

And Kirsten, I think the problem is hiring LOCAL photographers. You always still have the option of having a guest photograph your wedding (AKA, flying someone in from the states). It sounds really expensive, but I found when I flew mine in that it was actually CHEAPER (I flew in my photographer from Seattle)! For instance, it's $1062 (via expedia) to fly two people in for three nights to the GBP Akumal for your wedding. Doing the standard package at the resort is $540... plus $200 per event. So just wedding & reception is already $750. Now, what about getting ready shots? Or what about MORE THAN 36 photos!!! And then there is the famous trash the dress sessions. So basically, if you can find a photographer who is willing to travel for expenses alone, or even expenses plus a little fee you will be much better off.

Just some food for thought.

Janet your pictures are awesome looks like a wonderful day!!!

I agree you could still probably bring in a photographer as a guest I did the same thing, we brought 2 photographers from Nashville and it was a much better deal then hiring the resort photographer, plus we were able to get more images then we could from the resort. If you do hire the resort photographer find out if you can order prints later or do you have to make you selection while you are there. I found now as time went on I like different pictures.

we finally set our date a few weeks ago!!! friday april 23/10 tulum side. we don't know if it's the gazebo or beach. i kind of like not knowing as they both look beautiful.

we've been to the resort 2x before so we mostly know what to expect. i am just in the process of getting group rates. i haven't been overly happy with the quotes we've received. 2 places said the rate is only available for 7 days. does that seem weird to anyone? i was wondering if others didn't book a group rate and just let their guests book their own packages? reason i'm asking is the prices seem much cheaper.

for those who got married on the tulum side, can you recommend which al la carte we should book for the reception dinner? i can't remember which ones are on that side or if we ate there before.

I got a group rate through my travel agent and my guests are saving about $100 per person. Not a lot but enough to get people to book through her! Just curious, for those who are getting their guests to book separately...would they book whenever they want? I'd be nervous that people would wait TOO long for a last minute deal and there'd be no availability.
