Congrats on the confirmation for your wedding! I can totally hear that sigh of relief (cause that's exactly what happened with me). I believe he is the only outside DJ allowed. I booked him for my wedding, and Jazmin confirmed that he is allowed.

For make-up, I booked with Adrian Guerra from Styling Trio

My birthday is the second week of our stay and I would like to book one of the a la cartes for my group does anyone have the email to request this and does anyone have a list of the ones we can book at? Thanks in advance :)

Hi Tammy,

The same thing happened to me while I was vacationing at the GBP  in September.  I e-mailed Felix Schlokat: [email protected].  He responded promptly(!) and was very friendly.  We actually met him while there and he was very sweet.  We didn't make a reservation at any restaurant (though I have heard you can by e-mailing him), I just mentioned that it was going to be my mom's birthday on a specific date and could they please do something special for her on that day.  On the day of her birthday we returned to our room with helium balloons everywhere.  At dinner that night the waiters brought her a special cake and sang happy birthday to her.  It was very sweet, and I didn't tell them that it was her birthday - I only e-mailed Felix.

We ate at Le Gourmet (Coba) that night and I would highly recommend it for your birthday.  The food was great and the service was exceptional.  We actually decided to eat there twice in our 7 day vacation as we thought it was the best a la carte restaurant.

I should mention that we didn't need to make reservations prior to leaving.  On our first day we stopped by the lobby and made reservations for the entire week.  It was great.

Hope this information helps.

Dina

Us at Le Gourmet for her Birthday dinner.  It was fantastic!  We had a late reservation and had amazing service.  We didn't feel rushed either. :)

The cute (and tasty!) cake for my mom's birthday (and we celebrated both of our birthdays).

Hi ladies,

Just a quick one non-related to the resort. Has anyone bought the personalised maracas from Maracas Mexico? We are about to confirm our order - the total is $155 for 22 maracas mainly due to the crazy shipping fees. The payment form states that they only accept Western Union transfers. I'm not too keen and was hoping to secure this with my credit card. Does anyone know if this is legit?

Thanks Miriam

Hi everyone!

We have 48 people confirmed and probably will have 6-10 more so we were leaning towards the Flamboyan pool for our private reception (there will be close to 10 children as well) - this one seemed the biggest however when I mentioned to Jazmin that privacy was important, she suggested the Hibiscus pool. I looked it up on the resort map and it seems very close to the restaurants so we figured we would have a lot of other resort guests walking by.

Any thoughts or pictures anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

Also, not sure if anyone is aware of this but we weren't too fond of our guests spending over $1,000 each to come to our wedding and only having pina coladas and beer served during our cocktail hour and additional 2 hours of reception - we got quoted almost $2,600 to have liquor and wine (for the additional 2 hours only) and that wasn't even top shelf quality. $25/person/hour is out of the question as my MOH is paying $45 for an open bar for 7 hours for her at home wedding. Jazmin said we could bring our own alcohol and there wouldn't be a charge for them to serve it. Sounds ridiculous that we would even consider bringing our own booze to an all inclusive but for $500 we can get premium quality stuff and doesn't break the bank if you want your guests to have more choices.

Thank you in advance!!

Anna

Can't help you with the reception/booze part but the pool is surrounded by trees/bushes so no one really walks by unless they want to cut through the pool.  The main path is *that* close that you would notice people walking by.  IMO it's pretty private.

wow, that's really interesting about bringing in our own liquor. we were wondering how we were going to do this also since hardly any of our guests will be drinking the cocktails. we have a lot of hard liquor and beer drinkers. thanks for sharing! :)

We

Hi everyone!  We are new to the forum, but we just confirmed and are getting married at GBPC March 12, 2014.  Our WC is Maria Hernandes.  Pretty excited.  Currently just deciding how many people to prebook for.
We are also getting married on march 12, 2014 at the tulum gazebo! :) What are you doing for hair and makeup?

Does anyone have any information about the restaurant choices at akumal or tulum and what the menus are? Also I heard that if you book the basic bar but give the bar tender a big tip they will serve you the premium stuff. Can anyone confirm this? Our group will want hard liquor, not just beer and piña coladas. Thanks!
