Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Yeah I am not too happy about the cake options...they seem very plain.

-CDlillad:  I noticed in your facebook pictures that you had a 3 tier cake.  Was there an extra charge for that, or was it included because you didn't have a dessert at the restaurant?

I will probably be having white for almost everything in my wedding so I was hoping to have some colour on my cake....maybe I will ask if i bring down my own ribbon they can wrap each tier with it or add coloured flowers.  I have been kinda bummed since Jazmin sent me the cake options, but I guess I shouldn't complain when so far I love everything else I have picked for the wedding.

I was reading in earlier posts that if you don't buy extra champagne for the toast after the ceremony they provide a fruit cocktail?  Have any recent brides done this or was it just something the hotel used to do?

Also this may seem a bit picky but I know the last two times I was at this hotel you have to wear wrist bands, I haven't noticed any wrist bands in any other wedding pictures, do you get to take your wrist band off for the wedding?  Also can the wedding guests take theirs off too and was it a big hassle to get a new one after?  It may be picky but I hate the idea of all my guests having those wrist bands on in all my pictures!

Thanks!!

Don't know about the hors d'oeuvres  - but if you're worried about money for dinner - don't be - because the standard is to have your dinner at one of the A la Carte restaurants (depending which resort you're at) - but its considered part of your 'All-Inclusive' option.
Even if you have just your cocktail reception leading into the dance - you'll be paying for private bar service anyway..as well as DJ etc etc.

The best part of that moment of the wedding was the speeches (so very heartfelt).  Easily done.  Guess the biggest concern would be the timing of it all,  Wedding, law low time, for people to grab a bit somewhere, then cocktail reception?  And to be honest the reason Im choosing a destination wedding is because of saving money, I have a large family, many of whom have expressed interest in coming (what the grand total will actually be who knows) but if I have to start paying for extra ppl it could add thousands on to the bill.   So now,  has anyone else thought about doing the same? Gotten any quotes regarding pass horderves or the like?  or have pictures of the possible sites for the cocktail hour? I was hoping a terrace or near the beach.  A beach party I think would be the greatest, have to decided that one for sure before I buy my shoes.

Ya - we resigned ourselves to the fact that our cake will be kinda donkey. I just decided that I'll put a bunch of fresh flowers on it to pretty-it-up! lol
And we'll make up for it when we have our 'Open house' at home..we'll go all out for the cake then

I have heard through the grapevine that you can remove your bracelet for wedding day..but not confirmed 100%. Maybe email Jazmin and ask her. Not sure about all the guests but I know the bridal party shouldn't be an issue

Yes, wrist bands can be removed for the wedding day. Our wedding party and parents clipped their bracelets off but I think most of our guests left them on. You just go back to the front desk the next day and tell them you were part of a wedding and they'll give you new ones.

Does anyone know what the maximum numbers are for the difference reception sites? Me and FI were just talking about the guest list tonight and well.. it seems that there will be a lot of invites, I figure before I invite all these people I should atleast make sure I can have what I want even if a lot of them come. Got a big family on my dads side and well I just went to a family reunion this summer and our wedding was what most asked and even some said that cant wait to go :) so I figure sure, why not, lets just see how many people will actually go.  100 ppl atleast on that side, and you know how it is, you invite one, u feel like u have to invite another.  I dont figure most of them will go but some people can surprise you. Does this sound crazy? And Im not doing it to get a bunch of gifts, I dont even want that, but all this wedding invite etiquette is making me nervous. Some crazy rules.

Hello again:)

I think I am overwhelming Eugenia as all the things on here I didn't even think about yet, and I only have less than three months to go!

I am getting prices on the poolside dinner as my Mom does not want us eating with other guest, so bonus she will be paying for it!:)  I hope it is not too outrageous, as I don't want it to be too expensive for her.

I am going with the three tiered cake, I requested she did not say it was more money?  I didn't ask, so I assumed she would have told me but I will confirm this later.  I am also inquiring on chair bows for the ceremony, as I think the punch of color will look nice on the beach.  I will be bringing additonal fabric for the hammocks, as I saw some pictures on here that looked really nice with the extra fabric.  Plus, I think the petals look really nice on the aisle so I might go with those too.

Is anyone else thinking on doing these decorations?

I think I might be doing my giftbags down there instead of bringing everything there, possibly just printing of the schedule of events here and bringing those.  I hope they are able to do it as it would be less stress for me to bring them all down there:)

I did send some pictures of flowers I liked and they agreed they can do something like those.  I will try and attach so people know what I sent.

Another thing I learned was you can book a rehersal dinner in the buffet area the night before for no cost!!!!!!!!  Thought you all might want to know that:)

If you don't already know Eugenia is off all of September, so I am trying to get tons confirmed and finished before she heads off.

I hope any of this helps people:)  I appreciate this forum so much, I felt LOST before it as I am not a planner at all and I would have forgotten about all of these things so thanks ladies!!!!!

P.S- How do I put my info in the right hand corner?
