Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

You can choose between two three entrees, soups and salads.  We had three pepper soup and for the life of me canâ€t remember the salad but the food was great as was the service.   Eugenia had decorated the tables for me with rose petals and our giveaways at each place setting.  There was a separate small round table near the entrance with our guestâ€s book, champagne for me and hubby to toast again and more of my fuchsia pink roses.  After dinner, our cake was put onto this table.  We had four tables set up.  Our table consisted of parents, maid of honor, best man, groomâ€s sister, my brother, ring bearer and a cousin.  We let our guests sit where they wished at the other three tables. PM me with your email so I can send you more details.

I am getting married at the Tulum Beach in May 2011.  I was just wondering if anybody has the bouquet/boutonniere catalogue.  Also, we're having a private poolside reception and wondering if anybody has any information about the decorations/centerpieces that are provided for the dinner.  I do have some ideas of my own centerpieces but just wanted to know what is already available at the resort.  My centerpiece decorations were actually the flowers used to decorate my ceremony site.  They were $45 for each so it was great to reuse them for centerpieces.  I also brought down votive candles... I would NOT recommend doing that.  HUGE waste of space and weight.  It was too windy at the poolside reception for them to stay lit.  I also made table runners.

Thanks and happy planning everybody!

Which one has a more sophisticated interior and closer to water? I would love to hear all suggestions! thank you so much beforehand!

Congratulations!  They are actually the same building.  The Dolce Vita is on the south side and the Frutos Del Mar is on the north.  They are seperated by the kitchen, and I'm pretty sure they have the same decorations and they both overlook the activity pool.

Dolce Vita is by the 24 hour snack bar, with a little bit of an ocean view.

If I remember correctly, Frutos has an obstructed view of the ocean that you can't really see at night.  I forget completely though.

And there are centerpieces of each table of a bird of paradise flower in a vase, so even if you don't upgrade your tables won't be bare.

I would highly recommend going through a travel agency.  When dealing with that many people, something is bound to happen.  For our wedding i was SO thankful that I had went through a real travel agency.  When we arrived at the airport, they didn't have infant seats marked on the tickets.  Quick call to the travel agent, solved.  Then when we got to the hotel, they decided to move some of my guests to the Coba resort... NOT OKAY.  Quick call to the travel agent, fixed.  It was SO worth it to be able to call on someone else and not have to deal with that stress while on my wedding vacation.

Let me know - we have also been tasked with trying to keep the costs down so any insight would be appreciated!

Alright ladies.... help a broken bride!

Since I was a little girl, I always imagined getting married on the beach - I never considered destination wedding because I just couldn't imagine the cost; I knew people wouldn't be able to afford it, so I cut that thought from my head...

Then the FH basically told me why the heck would I let other people determine what I wanted to do for MY wedding.  Woke up, decided destination, picked GBP T, told people estimated cost, told them destination, etc.

Now that I'm actually trying to confirm up on things with guests, providing people a more concrete cost (estimations from agents), providing hotel name etc, everyone is complaining about the cost.

I'm basically being made to feel guilty for wanting to do my wedding this way because they aren't able to come.

I'm sorry - but 16 months notice to come up with $1000?  I have debt, mortgage, bills, insurance, school costs, etc.  I am in the same boat as everyone else - why am I supposed to feel guilty about this!?!?!

How did you ladies deal with the pressure?  I'm about to throw in the towel and say I give up and put the whole thing on hold for a few years... (again not what I want... but I rather wait than deal with every planning process in tears because of the guilt)....

:(  I'm so sorry you're feeling down.

In the end, it's YOUR wedding.  Do what's going to make you happy.  You will look back on YOUR big day for the rest of your life.  Don't do it with regrets.

It is your wedding, and like anything in life, you cannot make everyone happy! I too experienced grief and stress from everyone in the family having an opinion: what date you should go, how much they will pay, where they want to stay etc.  Just book what you want and accept the fact that you wont have everyone, but you will still have a great wedding. Do a reception when you get back home for those that missed it if you feel bad. But remember that you are inviting them to YOUR wedding, not putting on a party for them.

I agree with Trisha and Nikki.

It's your day...  one of the most memorable day in your life. Don't forget it !

And sorry but... wathever you do, some people have always to complain about something.

Hopefully close friends and family will understand.

Good luck.

Nikki&Owen: thanks for sharing that website. I will try it. So did your bridesmaids try on the dresses in another store first before ordering online? Melmed: I have a copy of the flower catalog that my wedding coordinator, jazmin, sent to me. What is your email address? Christi

Okay, so about YOUR wedding. I have to say, I went through much of the same. As a matter of fact, my own Mother will not be at my wedding, because she "doesn't want to go to Mexico".  Neither will my only sibling, my brother, his wife, and my nephews, because it would be a bad week for them to try to get time off from work. When I initially chose this resort and had all the "confirmed rooms" set, everything came crashing down. After spending 6 months finding the perfect resort for my perfect wedding, that was within the budget of < $1000.00 per person, 4 of my "confirmed rooms" backed out, changed resorts, etc. It was heartbreaking, and I cried for days. In the end, our group will be a small one, about 24 people, including bride and groom, the people that are going are a great group and it will be a wonderful wedding. We are having an AHR, in our backyard, catered and a D.J. just a big party basically, and whoever wants to come to that can.

The bottom line is like others before me have pointed out, it is YOUR wedding. Make it as special as you are and do what you want, because the one guarantee is that you cannot please everyone all the time.  This is one of those times!

Hi All,

I too agree with the other posts its YOUR day to spend with your OH in a place you both love!! Your guest are invited to share your day which they should see as a privilege, if they chose not too that is up to them!! Our guest seemed a little reserved about it but after a we got xmas out of the way most had booked we've now got a party of 32 going!! A few special people can't make it which is sad they have wished us well and look forward to seeing the pics on our return!! we're putting on a party when we get back to celebrate with everyone!! Don't give up if its your dream and what you want it doesn't matter who's there apart from you and him!!!!
