Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

I know. Depending on what time the band starts I might bring my ipod dock and have the first dance at the lobby bar. Then request a song from the band for the father/daughter dance at some point. It would be a risk of not getting to do the dances but I'm sure we can sort something out...Has anybody out there not had the private poolside reception? Any Advise?

I am using DJ Bob, and I have heard great things about him. He charges $400 for a 2 hour reception, or $600 for full dinner & dance. You can use his mic and speakers for speaches and he will play music during dinner. There have been past posts on here about brides using ipods for the private receptions and it was not recommended. Apparentley, the wind and waves drown out the music. It may be ok if you are at Coba, but Akumal & Tulum might be risky.

For anyone else that is having the poolside dinner at Akumal, what menu options were you given? I was given the options of Tacos OR Burgers/ Hotdogs OR Seafood Paella OR Mixed grill. Obviously we went with mixed grill, (hotdogs just don't say wedding, lol) but I was hoping for better options that this. Just wondering if anyone got anything different.

My husband worked out in the gym there every day (Akumal side).  I'm sure we have a picture of it somewhere.  It's located underneath the main lobby.  There is an entrance at the bottom of the stairs.  So when you walk out the main lobby and go out the stairs, you turn right (left would take you to the pool).  It's right there.  Very nice equipment.
