Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Air Transat - is that the same as Air Tran? that is the airline I will be flying with... crossing my fingers about the closet... ugh! For those of you who had to squish your dress in an overhead compartment... did you end up getting it steamed at the resort? How much does that cost?

On another note... I still have not heard back from Jazmin or Paloma about switching my ceremony from the Legal to the Symbolic - YIKES! It's been almost 2 weeks since I asked to switch. I want to start getting things lined up to have the legal part here asap but am not sure if I should go ahead with that until I get an official OK from Jazmin. Also, if I am stuck with the legal part in Mexico - I need to get a move on getting all my documents in order and translated/apostilled. I'm starting to FREAK!

Great to hear there are other ladies contemplating not doing programs... I'm still wondering myself if it's worth the hassle for a ceremony that's only 15-20 mins long... Hmmm after reading your comments regarding this I'm leaning towards not doing them... I don't need another DIY project right now :)

The Cozumel restaurant/Premier Lobby bar is a great place to do that. There's a nice quiet outdoor patio with live music every night. It's the most mellow place on the whole resort I think. Although, we didn't spend much time at the Tulum side so there could be something similar there...

I put my dress in the overhead compartment, and honestly, it was BETTER than the little closet.

My dress was a full length dress. The storage closet is about the size of a knee length coat. So my dress would have been folded to fit in there. In the overhead closet, it simply laid on top of the small objects, and fit perfectly. No cramming involved. And it was not wrinkly at all.

We have decided to go without a private reception.. anyone who has been there.. Do you have any sugestions on what to do after the dinner?? It just doesn't fit into our budget to do the private thing..

Also, is anyone doing a welcome letter?? I'm just wondering if there are any examples on this forum??

So, for the past 8 months, my fiance and I have been intending to stay and have our reception/dinner at the Tulum section. However, we just got a rate we can't refuse for the Akumal section, so now all of my planning and research is out the window! lol

I really want a pool side reception, but I only know the details about the Tulum side. Has anyone else has a poolside reception/dinner at the Akumal side? Which pool is it held at, are there any other bars near it (to get other drinks), what is the set up like, what kind of dancing area is there?

Thanks gals :)

The akumal pool side reception is held at the main pool. If you walk out of the lobby, there is a pool, it will be held on the other side of it.

The closest bar is the Akumal lobby bar, and it's not that far away. If your guests have to use the restroom it's basically the same distance.

The set up is (when you're looking AT the lobby) the bar is on the right. The food will be lined up along side the pool. There will be round tables of 8 or 10 (i forget which). They will have lights strung up. Then you dance inbetween the straw umbrella thingies.
