a little bummed about my "something borrowed" veil

Wow you girls are amazing! Especially since I know how much tammy loves her veil. And rebecca isn't getting married until after me. I am so moved by how generous you are! (the smiles are not working right, but I was going to insert group hug here)

Here is a pic of her veil. It was the simple, long style I wanted. But, then it has beautiful, subtle details of peals along the trim. I could buy one like it, but I'm sure it was expensive. It was just so exciting to see my friend had this perfect veil & was happy to loan it to me.

I have another veil option from a different friend. The only thing is the veil is a little fuller than I wanted.

I'm about to pick a friend up at the airport. I'll do a dress rehersal for her & see what she thinks of veil choice #2. It would mean a lot for me to wear that one too. My wedding will be on that friend's 5 year anniversary.

I'll post a picture of me in my dress & veil #2 and see what y'all think.

Thank you so much everyone for being so caring! This is a great place :) <group hug>

Oh...I'm sad to hear about them losing your veil too! That really sucks...and I know it's just a detail and it feels like another should work, but it's completely understandable being bummed and really wanting "that one". Once your heart is set on something like that, it's hard to change gears.

That being said, I have no doubt you will find another veil and it will turn out to be perfect! You'll see wedding pics of yourself and not be able to imagine it any other way. :-)

Good luck w/ the veil hunt!!!! Can't wait to see pics of your newest option.

Thanks! It is funny how it works. I didn't even want a veil. Then I started looking at them because my mom really wanted me to have one. I loved that long simple style. But, I only planned on spending $30. My friends was atleast $200 is not more. Her wedding was very grand with a huge budget (maybe $60,000). So I got excited about a veil nicer than I ever would have bought. It's hard to change gears to my original thought of having a cheap veil. But, I know I can't spend as much as she did to buy a veil like hers. I'm just a little bummed trying to accept that. I feel bad for her too. Such a pretty veil & then it gets lost.

I'm excited to do a dress rehersal. I haven't put it all together yet.

off to the airport....

also...if the other veil doesnt work out, try occansey designs... my veil is similar to your friends, except it has alternating pearls with clear swarovski crystals & is angel cut. i paid like $57 for it. my veil is an exact replica of ann's.

I was going to second this. My veil was 65" long with a spaced crystal edging. It was only like $45 and I was able to determine fullness and every other detail. PLUS they are super fast and do last minute orders too!

I don't know what happened to my veil. sad.gif I went to show a friend the veil in case she wanted to borrow it and I thought it was in the bag with my wedding dress (which is still crumpled up with about a pound of sand) and it wasn't in there! BOOOOO!

I had originally planned on ordering from occansey until I was offered two veils from friends. Do you know how long they take? If this veil doesn't work, I'll order a veil from them ASAP.

here is friend's veil #2

I'm worried it's too ivory. My dress is called ivory, but it's probably natural or diamond white. It's not a wedding dress, so I don't think the color is described as specifically on the tag. The trim on this veil might not match.

My other concern is that I love the V back of my dress & I don't want to block it.

This veil is a little fuller & it's 2 layer than the one below. I think the one below might work better because it will let my dress show through. I also like the legth. I wanted a really simple veil that was fairly long. I love how it looks when they blow in the wind.

If I go with an occansey veil, I'll probably get the custom cut for a very sheer look.

What do y'all think? I would be fine with no embellishments. Mostly, I care about having it long & sheer. So it would probably be $30 from Occansey.

But, there is the sentimental value of wearing my friends. Her 5 year anniversary is the same day as my wedding.

Decisions, decisions!

PS, when I'm taking my picture in the mirror wearing that veil, my friend that flew up to see me is the bride next to me. That was her favorite dress so far. You can probably guess that by the smile on her face. She'd get the bow removed though. The only problem was it is over her price range. I'm setting up some ebay watches & scanning some websites to see if I can find it cheaper. it's Paloma Blanca #3854 incase anyone wants to know.

Your friend's dress is beautiful!

I vote for option 2. I think it will be more in line with what you want. $30 for a veil is nothing. If you wanted to add some beadwork to compliment your dress you could add it or even DIY.

I know! Doesn't she look amazing? She looked great in so many dresses, but that one had everything she wanted. Now she is just looking for a better price. She was in north carolina with me. Things tend to be cheaper in texas.

I am leaning towards option #2. I hate to cover the back of my dress with a thicker veil. I'm on the occansey site now looking at my options.
