Memorial Day Weekend wedding???

I am also a Memorial Day weekend 2009 bride. (Not that I have confirmed a place yet!!) I think that for the most part people will appreciate the extra day off. Good luck with the planning!

Hi! I have a friend who had a destination wedding over Memorial Day last year in Cabo and she said people had to cancel after r.s.v.p.ing because of the airline ticket prices and travel at the airport was not fun (flights overbooked, canceled, etc.). I was hoping to have mine over MD as well, but she really discouraged it and said her guests probably wouldn't have minded taking an extra vacation day. Just wanted to pass the word on! Thanks!

Hi! I just saw this thread. I have to agree on a no for a holiday weekend. The prices are much higher. I'm getting married over Thanksgiving weekend thinking it would allow more guests to come since mostly everyone has both thursday and friday off! Well, at first, everyone was on board. BUT THEN, once the airfare prices were posted...many people have had to cancel. In my case, the difference is over 250 bucks per person and for a couple that would have been more than 500 bucks.

So...my advice. Don't do it. If i didn't have some guests already booked, I would change the date in a heartbeat.
