Paying for guests?

Recommended Posts

My fiance and I were thinking about paying for our bridal party. We will each be having 4 on each side. But now that we've started building our budget-it seems to be a little too much. I just hate to ask everyone to pay all of the $$ to come to our wedding. Is it too much to ask?

It's not too much to ask at all. I have not been to a wedding in the town where I live in years. They are all out of town and we always have to pay for flights and rooms.

We only have 2 in our wedding party and are paying for 2 nights for both just because since they said they would be in the wedding they have to come. I know it's not in your budget to pay for all your party, but could you pay for 1 night for them? I don't think they would/should expect it but if you can swing it that would be a nice guesture.

I don't think we'll be spending much more than $5000...

It was $3000 for our flights and resort (for 2 weeks all inclusive)

My parents bought my dress and are paying for the actual wedding package (but still only $1700)

Our rings were under $1200 (together), my FH's suit cost a couple hundred, I got a super good deal on jewelry and shoes and our OOT bags and favours were pretty inexpensive...under $500 (for appx 50 guests!)

Hair, nails and makeup are being done by my sister and cousin

Our BM and MOH are our only attendants and they bought their own outfits and our guests are all paying for themselves.

Our AHR will cost us a little bit more but not a whole ton, we're having it at our work's association hall and they offer catering (awesome food!) and bar for a super super good price.

Well, I can see where you are getting $5000. We aren't paying for any of our guests and we are paying for everything on our own. We have my ring paid off so I guess we don't really include that in our costs. We are having less than 10 people at an AI with a basic wedding package, inexpensive photographer and no reception either. We are trying to keep the costs minimal so no flowers, dj etc for ours. It won't be far from the $5000 range. things may change a bit, but we are planning on having a reception back home after we get back . I think not only are some of you paying for your guests, but the ones that aren't seem to have a lot of guests that will be adding extra costs for the wedding and especially for the reception.

I thought I narrowed it down to the Barcelo and Grand Palladium, but now I'm having doubts again and wanting to throw Dreams Tulum or Riu Palace back in, but the reason I ruled those out is because of the cost for guests, and according to Loco Gringo, Dreams Tulum is about 75 dollars per person per night more expensive, that's a huge difference for guests... so maybe I should just stick with my choices.... and pick one of them!

I think I'll have around 30 guest. I just want to use the restaurants & bars already provided by the hotel, even if it means we will have less privacy. Can you do that? If you don't make a reservation or ask to be seated together is that OK? I'm worried they will make you pay extra because you are a wedding party.

I've read some people saying they did their whole DW for $2,500. If you leave out reception, cocktail hour & dinner cost I think thats totally realistic. I'm just concerned the hotel won't let you just eat dinner like anyone else staying there would. Will someone please let me know how it works.
