Non AI in Negril Recommendations

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for non AI resort/villas in Negril. We are trying to decide on a place to have our wedding and want a small intimate non AI beach front resort/villa that is okay with kids.

Has anyone been to Coco La Palm, Rondel, Nirvana or anything similarhuh.gif

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!

Shawn

Hi Shawn,

I stayed at Coco La Palm once (2005) and I really liked it. Centrally located & cute. Tripadvisor and the message boards at negril.com might have more good info. I'm having my wedding at Negril Escape, a small boutique hotel on the cliffs.

Just a few minutes down from Couples Swept Away, right on 7 mile beach is the Sea Splash resort.

We didn't stay there (as we stayed at Couples) but we had our reception in their banquet area at their Norma's restaurant. It was a fabulous, private, tropical wedding venue, and the food and service was great. We walked through it and the grounds are nice. It's definitely more the small intimate type of resort, and they do allow children for sure, and even have 2 bedroom suites. Check it out! :)

I second Coco La Palm... pretty central, rooms are nice, staff is great

Blue Cave Castle looks pretty good too, never stayed there but took a tour of the property and looked at the rooms.

Blue cave is not on the beach though... its at the west end... with the caves under the hotel...

I am looking into Negril Escape for my wedding.
How was CocoLaPalm? I haven't been since 05 & my travel agent told me today that it's not as nice as it used to be... I booked my wedding at Negril Escape but looking to stay at a hotel on the beach and arrange a shuttle up for the wedding.

I had nothing to compare it to as it was my first time in Jamaica. However, I know most of the rooms are newly renovated. I was actually in a room that was not yet renovated but thought it was fine. Clean and enough space. Cleaning service even left us a flower on the bed! I had a great time there. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They had a constant supply of new towels and plenty of beach chairs.

The one negative thing was that their shuttle overcharged me. My first ride out to the cliffs they charged me USD 15 each way. Stupidly I took it once. Across the street there are taxis that permanently station themselves there. They charged me USD 8 each way.
