Luminaries

I am thinking about using some paper luminaries at our reception site. I was inspired by the picture at the bottom of this inspiration board:

 

 

All the luminaries I am finding online are kind of cheesy. Does anyone know where I can find some like in the picture? Or how to go about making them? Thanks!!!

You should make them, they're very easy to make. Design or download a pattern that you like, trace it on the bag and cut it out. I think they're a great idea!

I was going to say the same thing, it would be much cheaper to just make them, especially if you cant find ones you like.

I believe they're made by gluing a paper doily to the inside of a paper bag. We bought inexpensive votives from Linens-n-things (with 20% off coupon).

 

Our wedding coordinator arranged to have sand put on the bottom.

This seems so easy, cheap, and easy to travel with! And I think luminaries originated in Mexico. We are having our reception dinner on an outdoor terrace and I think these would look great on the ledge.

i made those ones for martha stewart's website..they turned out really cute! I cant wait to see them lit up around the pool at my wedding!! Plus they were SOOO easy to make!!

they are really easy to make, and a lot of girls have done them. I have to think about who did them so you can look for pictures, but I would make sure your resort allows them before you make them.

Chprfan ~ Have you posted any pictures of your luminaries? I would love to see how they turned out. Did you use the gold foil doilies, and if so, where did you find them? Thanks!
