Addressing Invitations: Clear Labels or Hand write

Recommended Posts

Ladies,

It it almost time for me to send out my invitations. I dread the idea of handwriting them out, though i know it may be necessary. Personally, i don't feel it is tacky to use a clear label, but now, I am second guessing myself.

I was thinking about doing one of the three:

1. using clear labels with a nice font,

2. laser printing the addresses directly on the envelopes

3. Hand writing them myself or getting a professional calligrapher

Any other suggestions for the envelopes?

How many do you have to do?

It's expensive to hire a calligrapher. I just bought some $2.50 calligraphy markers & me & a couple of friends did all of mine. We followed a guide on the internet. it really wasn't hard & we made it fun.

I only did 1 envelope (no inner envelope). I had about 75 invites.

I made address labels that matched my invites for my return address. You can see my envelopes on my BDW blog linked below.

I do feel like hand written gives it a personal touch. It was much easier than I expected, but then I only had 75.

Thanks,

I think i will go with printing them directly on the envelopes. Besides, that is what i did for my STDs and everyone thought they were a hit.

I figured getting calligraphy was too formal. The vibe of my wedding very tropical modern chic --- clean lines, no foo-foo.
