Bringing your ring?

Honestly, I would hesitate to put them in the safe. I think your best bet is to just not let them out of your site. I don't know if your rings fit on the other hand, but you could always just wear them on your right hands until the ceremony. I know that might be weird, but it's better than losing them!

I am paranoid about the rings on the wedding day when I do weddings, and I usually get them from the bride and groom and keep them with me until the ceremony time, and then either give them to the ringbearer (THAT wedding made me nervous!) or the best man. I just don't want them falling out of a pocket, etc. Better safe than sorry!

we had a bride that had a problem with theft so it can happen...

my mother has instilled fear in me...like she wears one of those body, fanny packs to bed with her with all of her cash, passports etc...i am not THAT crazy but i did hide things in my big suit case (rolled in socks, etc.)...

We always bring a combination lock to put on our suitcase once we get to the hotel. We also hide things in our locked suitcase like Tammy said- in socks, pockets of clothing, etc. I think if you exercise common sense and caution you should be fine.

On a side note about the rings- have you insured your ring? Mine never leaves my hand and for that reason I'm glad I have it insured. I wear it pretty much no matter what we're doing. I was hesitant to wear it so much at first, but FI says he didn't pay that much $$ for the ring to sit in a box- he wants it on my hand.

Sarah, that's funny, I feel the exact same way! And actually, I used to take my engagement ring off when we first got married, and then I misplaced it twice and freaked out, so I quit doing that. Our jeweler told me that it's better to just keep it on - you're way more likely to lose it if you are constantly taking it off. And, if you get it checked by a jeweler every six months or so, to make sure the setting is in good shape, you shouldn't have to worry about losing a stone.

I actually got a platinum ring b/c it IS stronger than gold, and b/c I wanted to be able to wear mine out with the horses and stuff. Haven't had a problem yet...crossing fingers...and yes, mine is insured! :)

Darnit that is one of the things I keep forgetting to do is insure my ring. I keep putting it off b/c I keep paying for other things. I rarely wear my ring, I am always scared to lose it. I have "lost" it twice. Once in a public restroom where thank god this nice girl returned it to me. Another time I took it off and put in the change section of my wallet. It's like who does that? I don't even know why I did that. I am so scared now that I just keep it in the stupid box. I only wear it when I see my FI b/c I feel like he will feel hurt if I don't wear it. I know I have to get used to it but it's so hard for me. Especially since I'm always on the train, in court, running around like a chicken without a head, I would be terrified to lose it.

I freaked out I had no idea where I had left it!! and I didnt wanted my FI to notice!! so I didnt said anything when we got home I started looking and after a while I found it I had left it in the kitchen!

I'm undecided about this too. So far I'm thinking that I will leave my engagement ring at home and just bring our bands. I don't think I could bear the thought of my e-ring getting stolen or lost.

Glenda, please insure your ring! I work in insurance and I highly recommend it! Give yourself some peace of mind. (just a suggestion) As for you always taking off your ring here & there, why don't you put it on a chain around your neck. I seem to be doing that alot lately b/c my ring feels loose (maybe i'm losing weight!)

We will be taking our rings, and doing something with them - be it in socks in a locked suitcase or whatever. I can say we did not use the safe at all last year at the RIU, and did not have a problem - maybe we got lucky or maybe those few people who have had problems are just really unlucky? We also got left a little note the one afternoon from the cleaning people to put my necklace away (very simple gold chain with a small heart on it) which I thought was very nice of them.

I think if you use common sense you should be fine.
