My new "pet"

We have at least one raccoon that has decided to live with us. He was fine as a roommate until he started chewing up all of the insulation, eating through wire, stealing dog food and hiding it in the dryer vent, and inviting all of his friends over for late night parties.

So, a humane exterminator came over yesterday to set traps. Once they get them they drive out to the country and let them go.

Well, we caught one! It was so sad I nearly cried! It's all curled up in it's cage all pouty looking! FI was making fun of me. Poor little guy, apparently it thrashed so hard to get out of the trap (which was on the roof) it fell off of the roof! Can you imagine how scary that would have been.

We're hoping it's a boy, not a nursing momma, or we're going to have to start ripping out walls!

We got another one last night! I think they have set up their neighborhood raccoon head quarters in my house!

I heard the trap shut and couldn't sleep after that. At least this one stayed on the roof! I feel so guilty! I was outside talking to it and FI seriously thinks I've lost it. He told me I was probably scaring the poor thing even more by having a heart-to-heart conversation.

We just got #3! How many raccoons do you think can live in the walls and eaves of a 2100 square foot home?

It makes me think of that old movie, "With Six you get Eggroll"

I need to change my title to "Raccoon Catcher"
