NY Girls: Diamond District Question

Recommended Posts

Hey NY ladies-

Has anyone had a great experience purchasing their engagement or wedding bands form the diamond district in Manhattan? I know there can be some good deals there and I was thinking that I may buy our rings there the next time I am in NY....

I appreciate any feedback here!

I actually could not find the type of wedding band I was looking for (white gold with horizontal baguettes only). All the mall jewlery stores had nothing like it so someone recommended the diamond district.

I walked into a few stores on 47th and MOST had exactly what I was looking for in different shapes and sizes. They work with you on prices too, but dont let them in on how much you're willing to spend or that's all they'll show you lol. I ended up buying my band from Ipex Jewlery. They didnt have the selection of most other stores, but they definatley had what I wanted at the best price.

My DH bought my e-ring and wedding band in the diamond district. He is def. the researching type and said he ended up getting a great deal. Also, he was happy about the fact that he didn't have to pay taxes on the ring. When you buy it, you can have them ship it to you out of state to avoid paying them. I think it saved him $1000+.

This place was reccommended to him by his friend living in NYC.

I've purchase several things and also had a bunch of repair work done from Norman Landsberg. His prices are fair, their quality is excellent, and Norman is one of those sweet old men you just want to hug!

If Norman's not there, Jacque's really good too.

Hey Nicole, when are you going to be in NY? Are you going to be at BofA at 9 West? Let me know when you're going to be there, I'll stop by since my office isn't far. Or maybe we can just meet for lunch.

Oh, and just to let you know, we got my E-ring from the other diamond district in NY (down in Little Italy.) We got my E-ring from Brad at Sulli Jewelers (I even tried to set him up with Typhaine but turns out he's married - oops!!!) Here is there website. We got a great diamond for a great price. I ended up getting my wedding band from him too.

Thanks Jen!!! I think they are moving PB to the new BofA building (I think it's near Bryant Park), but more than likely my next trip will be for my NY shower towards the end of the summer since half my BM's live on the EC and Dean's family is in Westchester too.

Thanks for the info on the rings. I have a long list of stuff to do next time I go to NY...I miss it there!!!

Hi Nikki, I see that you live in Sf, have you been to the San Francisco Giftcenter and Jewelrymart. You can get diamonds for whole sale there and can even bargain. That's where John bought my e-ring and where we plan to buy our wedding bands. It's by invitation only, but all you have to do is call one of the stores to let them know you are coming and they'll put your name down. Eat something before you go and bring a bottle of water b/c it's like an inclosed maze. There are soooo many jewelers one right after the other. You can also get cheap bags, pashminas, christmas items...all kinds of stuff there.
