Mutiple Weddings One Day

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Im new to posting on this forum, but have been reading alot of the posts for Jamaica and the DR. My question is regarding the fact that most resorts have mutiple weddings a day, are they spaced out enough inbetween the weddings? Did any past brides end up running into another bride getting ready in the salon or see the other weddings happening at the resort/or have the same locations for the reception? Even though I know there are other weddings going on I would still like to feel as if it was still "my day" in a way. Thanks for your help

I think it depends on how big the resort is. I have been to smaller resorts that would only have one wedding a day. But with the bigger resorts, they would probably have them space out so they aren't running into each other. The resort that I am getting married at has 3 resorts in 1, and the WC you work with depends on what section you are staying in. Therefore, someone could probably get married in the Bavaro section while I was getting married on the beach from the Palace section. There are also multiple a la carte's to have the receptions in, so you wouldn't have to share a resturant. The best thing to do is to contact the wedding coordinator from the resort(s) that you are looking at going to.

I've stayed at many resorts and never seen two weddings in a day. I think it's more common for weddings to happen day, at different resorts, which is why the judge is so busy, running around to all the different hotels, etc.

Plus, I doubt the WC would ever book a wedding at the same time as another one.

It will def be your special day--do not worry! :)

Honestly, I specifically opted for a hotel that only did one wedding per day for this very reason. I can't imagine how I'd feel, as I was gettting ready to walk down the aisle, only to see another bride and groom taking photos or something.

Some of the hotels book the weddings on even hours. So, in theory, I guess you don't see them, but if I'd picked a popular day, I wouldn't want to chance it.

I know it's selfish, but like you, I want it to be my day.

I know the resort we are getting married at does a couple a day, but from what I have read they space them out and no one has complaints about another wedding interfering with their day. Our resort is a big one though. When you figure out where you want to go, ask the resort how many weddings they do per day and if they are spread out.

Our resort does more than one wedding a day, with space available for every hour. But, they have 4+ locations for weddings, multiple reception options, etc. So even though there is the possibility of having 6 weddings in a day they currently don't have that many.

I look at it like weddings are their business. I have read every review I can find and not a single bride has complained about anything going wrong, details being forgotten, running late for their wedding, etc. Because this is a highly rated resort specializing in "romance" they have a pretty good system worked out.

I think if you are comfortable and have good communication with your planner, everything will be fine. I was worried about this so I discussed it with my planner. THere is 1 vow renewal at 11 am, a wedding for the couple only at 1pm and a wedding at6 on the opposite side of the resort that day. My wedding is at 4.

I'm also bringing my own photog/videographer and doing my own hair and make-up.

I'm really not worried about it and still look at it like it's "My Special Day" because it will be!

I agree its very resort dependent and what you want.

I'm going to ROR and I beleive they have up to 3 weddings a day. They have it set up such that there is at least a full hour between ceremonies... so the start of weddings are always 2 hours or more apart. From what preivous brides have said... the resort is so big that you don't really notice it.

But I guess we honestly don't care about it. We will be so self-absorbed that day... that I dont think seeing another bride will bother me. I would actually probably go and get a picture with her ; ) I think it really depends though on what you want.

There was another wedding on my wedding day but we never ran into one another ... other than we were taking pics on the beach while they were having their beach ceremony ... but we stayed away.

Both our receptions were on the beach but our was privated with palm fronds all around so people couldn't see in.
