Wow- I can't imagine this. I would freak if my 22 yr old sister did this. That's a little crazy. Unfortunately, I think she will learn her lesson really quick. Who wants to move somewhere all alone- especially ALASKA!!! Geez, that's like another world up there. It's not exactly close.

Hang tough Sarah. I know it sucks, but your sister is a big girl (even at the young age of 18 ). She will learn about the big, bad world soon because it seems right now she has no concept of reality.

OMG that's crazy! At 19 I didn't even know who I was, let alone feel ready to get married. My biggest decision was to move away for university :S I'm sure that it will all work out in the end. She probably didn't want to tell you because she didn't want to upset you before your own wedding + she might have thought you'd object to her decision.

Sarah that is a crazy story. I would be so disappointed if my sibling (brother) did that. Rachel is right though, you have to let people make their own decisions and learn from that sometimes.

Life is just a contiuing learning process...I am sure that this requires a lot of patience and understanding and we're here as your sounding board!!! Good luck!

I honestly dont get it, shes is a beautiful, I thought intellegent, girl who can do so much better!
I am soo gonna be hated for saying this but as an army "wife" I feel I can lol

I agree its stupid and immature but we all do stupid things, probably not on this scale, but we do.

If he is being deployed he will be away for at least 12 months and, i hope it doesn't happen, but he might not come back. Sorry its a reality all of us army other halfs have to face!! If he doesn't she will have some security in a pension etc, maybe this is why they did it so she would have some money to fall back on

There again sometimes I am forever the optimist and maybe she didn't think that far ahead.

I know thats one of the main reasons we are getting married, there again im 35 lol

Crap for you as the sister tho smile03.gif

I can definetly see where you are coming from.....
I guess I should just spill the beans and let you know kinda what has happened the last year with my family...

Well we were a happy go lucky family, no problems normal (if there is such a thing).
Well parents are we will say more immature that I am.

They decided once shelby graduated high school they were going to sell EVERYTHING and travel the world... Well mind you, yes traveling does sound very luxurious IF you have money... Not to say they are poor but def not enough money to just travel.

Well I think alot of it took a tole on Shelby right after high school she really didnt have a place to go she moved in with my sister Jenny until my parents got back from their first trip from asia and she moved to colorado.

So I think a part of her wants to stability and the need to be secure, if that makes sense. Like I said I am not mad at her, Im just sad she didnt open up to me and talk to me or even tell me she got married. I thought we were much closer than that.

Who knows all of this could work out Im just worried about her that all.

I think she probably didn't tell you because she knew you would be disappointed. It's hard facing those we love when we know we are doing something they won't approve of. Just stay close to her- let her know that you are always there, so in case anything happens, she won't feel like she doesn't have anywhere to go.

I am so sorry you are having this crazy week. Hopefully everything works out. But she definately is going to grow up quick now. I would be so mad. But it sounds like you can be there for her and be supportive because I have a feeling she will need it. You really do need to get a drink today....a big one. lol.

I just read through this thread. I would be really upset if my sister did this, get married without telling me. I'm sure your sister will regret not including you. I also read your explanation of why she may of did it for stability. I think you hit the nail on the head.

Wow this is such a crazy situation. I just hope that your family can get past all of this and become close again.

God, I feel so bad for you Sarah, there is so much drama going on in your life right now. Your wedding is so close, you really don't need all this stress. I'm sending a group hug your way.grouphug.gif
