Help! Is it poor taste to have my reception at the all-inclusive resort's restaurant?

I don't think so. We had a welcome dinner, a rehearsal dinner and a glass bottom tour that we paid for. We had the same feeling about it as you, but since we invited guests to other things we didn't feel bad about having the wedding dinner at the resort.

I agree with everyone else. I don't think that this is cheap at all. I think this is actually what we are going to do too! I don't think any of your guests will mind.

Thank you ladies!!!! I showed this to FH and he finally realizes that we are not the only couple doing this! It is also great to hear from those of you who had private receptions and didnt think it was worth the extra $$$!

We're going to do the same thing (probably - it's not nailed down yet).

 

One thing that we were offered though is if we want, our guests can have lobster for $15 extra each.

Maybe they'd let you personalize it a bit for a little extra cost.

 

Just a thought.

 

Even if you don't do that (and we might not either), I think it's totally fine. Just thought I'd throw in that option.

I don't there is anything wrong with this at all! I'm thinking about doing the same thing, though we have to pay to rent out the space (but food & drinks are included)

I don't think it's tacky at all!!! We are planning to have the welcome dinner there, but we'll rent an area and have kareoke for the group!!

I don't think its in poor taste at all . I will have around 50-60 people and have decided to have a private Champagne and Horderves cocktail recpetion immediately after the ceremony and the a semi-private sit down dinner ( offered in the Caprice Pacakge ) afterwards . I have also rented out the disco after dinner for our dances and speeches , etc. etc.

 

Go with your heart and do what makes sense . Everyone is there for you and your day , so enjoy and don't worry , I am sure everyone loves you both enough that they are just happy and blessed to be there and it won't really matter where you chose to eat

We are having our reception at one of the resturaunts at our AI resort... I dont think it is in poor taste at all

We're doing it too! In my case, the only thing I was worried about was keeping the "cheese" factor out of doing it at the buffet restaurant. Luckily, our resort has three options for dining, so we're going to do it at one of the others because I simply didn't want to be moving down a buffet line in my wedding gown. They even give you a waiter to take care of your party, and do some simple decorations for your area. Only catch is that they only allow for it if you have 25 guests or less. If your party is larger than that, you have to book for a private reception.

 

Anyway, I don't think its in poor taste at all. Especially if you are having an AHR. But either way, I think its fine. They are already in this idyllic setting having the time of their lives..no reason to go to all that extra expense as far as I'm concerned.

I am just going to echo what everyone else is saying, but I agree its not in poor taste at all and I would have done except that even though my resort was AI, we would have had to pay for the dinner no matter where it was because we had too many people. It cost more to do it on the beach, but we figured if we were paying, might as well do exactly what we want.
