For anyone looking into this place, my sister attended a wedding there this past summer and says that it is a beautiful local. Definitely 3 star, BUT very good service and that the key is not to book rooms in "the tower" or main hotel. They have built bungalows/villas which show up in the booking system as "Studios"..book those, they are along the water front, newer and very spacious with great views.

 

I'm thinking of trying to convince FH to book a few nights there on the honeymoon stay. All the current reviews rave about it and talk about how it feels like "your own private paradise"...very laid back and uncrowded which appeals to me.

Not sure if you are still exploring this place or not and I'm sure you have already selected a location but I was very close to booking with Avalon Reef. I was going to book because my in law's have a time share and they thought they could book us there so it would make sense to just have the wedding right at the hotel. Well, the timeshare didnt work out so we decided not to have it there. Here is what I know..... the prices are pretty decent but the selection for food for a reception is not good. They have an asian buffet, a mediterrainian buffet and something else and those options just didnt do it for me.

We're having ours on North Beach in April '10 and we're staying at Cabanas Maria del Mar. The prices are outstanding and I've read a lot of reviews. Its not the most luxurious on the island but its a much more, homey feel and a lot of brides have stayed there that are working with Maria. She caters to your every need. She is wonderful!
