2 years to plan

Ok ladies so I have two years to plan this wedding and I am going out of my mind . I've gotten so many ideas from this site and I don't Know what to do. Any suggestions on what I could be doing right now. Thanks!!!

first thing you should do is narrow down locations!

Honestly, my best piece of advice would be to pick your location, maybe make some STD's if you want, and then relax and enjoy your engagement period! I think too many people forget that the engagement period should be a very happy time, and you have lots of time to enjoy it!

Two years is plenty of time ....I agree enjoy your new engagement. Narrow a location, think about STD's but I wouldnt send them for a year. Get some inspiration on colors and flowers, overall decor. Just be excited your way ahead of the game!

I agree with the above posters, narrow down your locations and other vendors (photographer, musicians, etc)! This will help with planning your budget. Also, start saving, saving, saving.

I'm also doing the two year-engagement, next year is WAY too soon!!!! I feel like there's SO MUCH TO DO!!!! We haven't decided for sure where yet, and have yet to pick an actual date, which is next...pretty sure Punta Cana

Advice from someone who had a similar engagement length:

Definitely enjoy this period! 2 years may seem like forever, but it flies by so fast! For now, worry about when and where the big day will be!

 

However, don’t hesitate to get inspired! Make a scrap book out of things you would love to have at your wedding no matter how random or unrelated! And don’t buy anything until about 3 months before the big day (besides paper stuff like STD's and Invitations). You have no idea how many times a new more amazing idea pops up and you change your mind lol, especially with count things like favors or OOT’s.

I love this idea. I started a book with all of my ideas of the wedding. The first page was an "inspiration board" so it includes anything that I see in magazines that reminds me of something I want to see in my wedding. It has mexican food, shades of blue that I love, pictures of the beach...

The other pages are filled with dress ideas and it was so helpful when i started dress shopping because the salesgirls would get an idea of what I liked and make suggestions based on my pictures. I also would take pics of me in the dresses and paste them next to the pics I clipped form the magazine so I had a point of reference when making my decision. I also have cakes, flowers, BM dresses, and this will probably turn into a keepsake when the whole thing is over. It's really fun. I never get tired of looking at it

As for the other stuff I agree that the first thing you should do is nail down your location of choice. The world is your oyster!!

I also have 2 years to plan. We've set a date and picked the location (Negril, Jamaica) but that's all. I agree that next year is way to soon!!! There seems like a million things I should be doing!

Our engagement was about 2 years as well. Start researching locations. I did, but I ended up completely changing my mind... but that was because I stumbled onto the forum!!

 

I agree about the photographer, if that's something that's really important to you.

 

Once you've decided the location and booked, you can send out your STDs.

 

Other than that, I agree with the others; enjoy your engagement!! It really does fly by.

 

I love the scrapbook idea. I started a journal - my mom and I went out and bought one the day after I got engaged. I haven't written in it within the last few months, but I use to write in it more frequently. It's fun to look back at it even now!
