I am conflicted about these sites. I agree that it is good to know, but at the same time what I conflicted about is why should we even have to have a registry.....? If you've been convicted of a sexual violent act or child molestation then you shouldn't be on the street....! It's been proven that most of the time these are impulsive crimes that more like an addiction for the offender and they can't stop. And once you've done your time you've paid your debt to society and you should be able to live. So this is why I'm conflicted....most of these people can not be rehabilitated....so don't let them out!

Right, but as much as we'd all like to lock them up and throw away the key, that isn't exactly an option in most cases.... so, it's best to be educated!

I wonder if they have one for Canada somewhere...

Right....but part of my conflict is that they have paid there debt to society and done the time.....once they've fulfilled their probation duties they still have to be on the registry so how is this not a violation of their rights? I'm not saying that I'm "pro" molester but they have to live somewhere, and this leaves them open to refusal of jobs, housing and harassment.

If you've been convicted of murder and serve your time you're not on a registry......well I wouldn't want a murderer living next to me. So really what I posed isn't such a "unrealistic" ideal. I believe that in some states the maximum for violent rape is 15 years.....these can be changed. So I ask again.....If people are so worried about where they live because they are afraid they could offend again then why are they on the streets?

*****I am NO way defending they're actions!!!!!!! So please do not attack!
