Wedding Gift Thank yous

Recommended Posts

I am getting married next Friday and have received two wedding gifts already. Would it be ok to wait until after the wedding to acknowlege the gifts with the "typical" wedding photo thank you, or should I send a thank you now? I just had my shower 2 weeks ago and just finished sending out those thank you notes.

Do you also send out thank you notes for people who attend the wedding?

i'm waiting to send out the wedding thank you notes until after the wedding. I'm just keeping track of wedding gifts verse shower gifts. And sending out the shower gifts thanks ASAP. with regards to thank you notes to those that attend the wedding, I am if they give a gift or not...that's just me though. I know you have up to one year to send a thank you note out...but i think if you wait too long it's a bit rude...

I received a few gifts prior to leaving and there was no way in hell I had time to send out thank yous before I left. I'm waiting for some pro pics to make a thank you and send to everyone that gave a gift plus the guests that attended the wedding. Their attendance was a gift in my opinion.

I agree not to wait too long. It is etiquette to have a year to say thanks, but come on. That's a bit much in my opinion. I have friends that never sent a thank you for their gift I gave them back in Sept. I'm assuming they aren't sending ones, and I think it's very rude.

I hope to have mine done soon. Just waiting on the pro pics, so it won't be more than a month after the gift was first received. I don't think that's bad.

I always thought it was 6 months to send thank-yous.

I got my first shower thank yous done after a week. I've only received one wedding gift, but the giver is supposed to come to my AHR. My plan was to send thank yous out immediately, just to stay on top of things but now I don't know. I guess I'll see if it becomes an issue!

I think I might wait until we get back and then send a thank you for the gift and for coming to St. Thomas. I did thank them personally, so I guess it would be acceptable to wait until we get home. Hopefully I will have a great photo to send with it as well.

haha I guess brides better rush out and by thank you cards to have on hand for occasions like this. I had ZERO time to give a thank you to the few that gave us gifts prior to leaving. Emily must not be married- doesn't she realize how frantic the last week is for a bride? lol :)

the rule in our house is that there is no usage of the gift until a thank you note is written.

i have a stack of 20 thank you cards, stamped, return address written on them. so that whenever i get a gift, all i have to do it actually write the thank you in a few sentences, address the envelope and send it on its way. much easier that way i think.

That is such a good idea! I was wondering about this too, we are getting checks in the mail and since I have already cashed them I thought I should write the note. I just found out a camera is on it's way to our house and I know I will be using it that day. How excited am I to be getting a new camera.
