I think the ice thing is pretty normal. Im always thirsty can crave something really cold like icee's.

The sex thing I can totally relate too. Hubby hopes I snap out of it soon. But I really have no interst right now. And it shakes things up and gives me heart burn.

I am the same way now. I never drink anything cold, it would always have to be room temperature. But now all I drink is really cold water. And this nasty bitter taste in my mouth is irritating me because it's making me not want to eat.

And I'm with you on the sex thing. I'm not into it right now, but I'm hoping it will change in the next month cause I would hate to disappoint my husband on our wedding night.

Also, kind of a personal question-

Did any of you NOT want to have sex during your first trimester? I've been scared to because I keep thinking I'm going to hurt the baby. We finally had sex last night for the first time since I found out I was pregnant and it wasn't comfortable for me and I couldn't really get into it. The whole time I kept thinking about the baby. How did you all feel about it?
Hello, hope I'm not intruding, I'm not pregnant, but, I do have three children.

My bestfriend craved ice when she was pregnant and I've heard of other people doing the same. Actually, when your in labor, that's what they prefer to give you, not water but ice. My coworker also craves ice, she's not pregnant but has low iron so at your next doctors appt I would just run that past your doctor. Again, I believe craving ice is completely normal when your pregnant so don't let the comment about my coworker scare you I just want to make sure your crossing your t's and dotting your i's.

As far as the sex thing, you don't have to worry about it harming the baby, your baby will be just fine. I do remember, I think in my second trimester, you'll want sex all the time. When your third trimester comes around, especially towards the end, it will become a little uncomfortable.

Someone else at work told me that when your iron is low, you crave ice. I actually do have low iron, so along with my prenantal vitamin I take an additional iron supplement. But, like Angel posted before, I'm craving not only ice, but very cold drinks. But, that probably explains the ice cravings. We'll just have to see how much more my teeth can take!

I read a few books where it said that your sex drive will rise in the 2nd trimester too, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping that's true! I'm almost done with my first trimester, so we'll see what happens popcorn.gif

Thanks for the insight! I'm the only one of my friends that has ever been pregnant, so everyone's input here has been so helpful because I feel so confused sometimes!

I'm doing well! 19 weeks and counting. We go for the anatomy scan this Friday morning and I can't wait!!! I told DH he has to have his first serious pep-talk with our child; spread 'em wide for mommy and daddy to see if mommy's intuition is right! :) LOL

I have put on about 6 lbs and am keeping to a pretty active workout regiment. Hopefully, I'll be able to keep it going as long as possible. I'm also thinking of signing up for prenatal yoga classes but, haven't gotten around to that yet. I finally started showing a little but I'm still very small for 19 weeks; I'll post a pic later (dont have it here at work). Oh and I've been feeling movement since 16 weeks. Got kicked a lot the one day and have been feeling slight movement about once a day since. Baby seems to really like the cat and kicks every time he comes to sit on my lap:) Very cute!

Your doing great. I'm proud of you staying active. I need to follow your lead. After i got home from the wedding i started eating all the stuff i didnt let myself eat for 6 months and i still havent stopped. I need to get a grip!

I feel the same way about having sex during the first trimester. i've been a nervous wreck about doing so many things. I know it cant hurt the baby but still it just doesnt seem right. Maybe i'm just not in the mood yet. We havent had sex yet, we've done some other things but i think i will feel the same way you did (thinking about the baby the whole time). hopefully things will get better in the second trimester.

So here's my update. i had my first ultra sound last Thursday but they were unable to see the baby. The u/s tech said i'm only 51/2 weeks not the 71/2 the doc thought i was. So now i had blood tests done yesterday and i will have another one done 2morrow to check my hcg levels and than i have to go back and get another u/s in a few weeks when i should be 71/2 weeks. Did this happen to anyone else?

Hi Danielle,

That happened to me. As of today I'm officially in my second trimester... but at the beginning we had a bleeding scare so I had a bunch of ultrasounds. My first one was at 6 weeks, and they only saw a sac. I had been monitoring symptoms and things so I knew that I ovulated a week late... so I knew i was only 5 weeks, but they just kept saying it wasn't right for my LMP. Well then i went back at what "was" 7 weeks and there was the baby... full heart beating and everything and it measured exactly what I thought it was. I just ovulated late. So hopefully that's what you did as well. The HCG levels should confirm everything for you.

Good luck!

Hi Danielle,

Same exact thing happen to me. I had to go in to the doc very early when I first found out I was pregnant because I had some bleeding. According to the first day of my last period, I was expected to be around 4-5 weeks. But, when they did the ultrasound, they were unable to see the sac. All they said was that my uterus walls were getting thicker, so that I was probably only 2 1/2 weeks. My period is usually every 30-34 days, so that was one of the reasons I wasn't on schedule according to their charts. They had my HcG levels checked every other day for a week and they continued to rise.

Now on my last ultrasound, they measured the baby and at the time, I was 8 weeks. So somehow my body caught up and I'm on schedule with my EDD and size of the baby. So, don't worry about it, it's very routine what they are doing to you. Good luck and let us know the HcG results when you find out.
