Are you having engagement photos done?

We took some, but haven't gotten them back yet. We decided to do them since my FI cut his locs off & we do not have any pictures together w/ his new "clean" cut. Also, we are planning on using them for our guest book & newspaper announcement like many of the other brides said.

We didn't have a photog picked when we had our engagement pics done -- so we just had them done at JC Penney. They were very mediocre ... and we decided not to put them in the paper as planned ... but out parents love them and it was a nice thing to have done. If you can get the more artistic photos done, by all means I say do it. it's great to have those kind of shots done of you two together (from what I've seen from so many BDW gals!) BEFORE the big day! If you can work it in to your photog package or find a good photog to do them on your own -- I would definitely do it! Plus it gives you pics to use for engagement announcements, etc.

I never thought about going to JcPenny's or a similar store.

 

The typical engagement pic I see in Southern California are the ones at the beach. LOL!

 

I want to have them done, but I want to lose more weight first.

Same here. Aaron and I don't have a lot of pictures of us, let alone candid pics. We didn't put an announcement in the newspaper, but it was just something for us. It definately isn't something you need to do.

I agree i didnt see a huge need for engagement pictures, we'll have our wedding pics, and TTD pics & im doing Bd pics...so it seemed a bit much. My brother n law fortunately wants to take pics of us, hes very good at photography so were going to do a photo session downtown....if he wasnt offering we probably werent going to do any.

We got some done, and they were kind of a waste. We have lots of pics of us together We travel a lot as well. The pictures that we ended up using for our STD's werent even the engagement pics, it was a fav from Cozumel! Since we already have pics of us framed around the house they are still sitting in the sleve we bought them in..

We did some. They were included in our package. I'm glad we did. We got to know our photogs. We took pics in Hermosa Beach, her in CA. Hans and I met right before summer and we were always there.

I guess if we were doing an annoucement on the newspaper or something like that it would be nice to have the pics done. I don't think we have much use for them so we might opt on skipping the pictures, but I do think many of you had really good ideas of what to do with engagement pictures.

 

Besides like many of you said I may have a hard time making my FI sit still for some nice pictures....I could just see him making funny faces the entire time.

We aren't doing engagement pics. We have so many pics of us together already, and our wedding is in less than 6 months, so I'm sure we'll get a bunch more good ones of us then anyway, plus the wedding pics. I think it's totally a personal decision. You shouldn't feel as though you are committing some etiquette taboo if you don't get them.
