My Hair Turned Orange!!!

Another suggestion: (And let me preface this with the fact that I am not a hairdresser, but I used to work at Sally Beauty and they made us get all sorts of certifications)

If she can't see you for a while, or refuses to fix it or whatever, find a semi permanent at a Beauty Supply store. Read the package, some will last 8 washings, other SAY 8 weeks. Find a brown that looks about how dark you want to go, but make sure the base color listed is ash, or green, or blue. It wont turn your hair those colors, it will just counteract the red/orange. The hair swatch sample won't look the way it will look on your head. Those swatches are done on white hair, I believe.

Again, dont do permanent, because then you are just worsening the problem. You could even check with a hairdresser if this is a good interim solution. Again, if she will fix it, take her up on it, but if you are really in a pinch. This should help.

Any hairdressers out there please feel free to comment on whether this is sound advice. I believe it is and have done it on myself, but another vote of confidence would probably be wise before pursuing!!!prayer1.gif

Thats what I think too, and that is crazy. Stripped hair can sometimes reject color pigments because they have nothing to hang on to. That seems kind of aggressive based on the desired outcome. At least at this point, the damage will be minimal with anything done going forward. The color is stripped, the next steps should be color deposit with low volume peroxides.

Okay I am off my tangent. I hope this gets fixed up!

ugh I'm so against stripping hair.....its horrible! Most stylists will actually warn you not to do it too...it seems so unprofessional for this lady to have done it without saying anything first. hahha! I totally went off on a tangent when I first read the post, stuff like this always makes me angry because you're relying on someone to do their job correctly and you're going to be wearing their outcome for days to come.

I had a friend about a year ago who had her hair stripped and then highlighted and her hair fused together. It actually melted together from being so overprocessed....they had to cut her hair to chin lenght (from almost mid back) just to make it look ok...and it was still super damaged. For about 4 months after pieces of her hair would just break...and it was all from a mistake that the stylist made. It was horrible!

You girls are so awesome, thank you so much for all your support and advice!!!!!

I read every little word that you all said on here and got enough courage and called the owner.... since then I am so pissed. Not only have I spoken to her not my FMIL has been on the phone with her on and off the past hour.... So I just started a new post because I need advice from stylist pronto on what to do because I have to call Monica (the owner) back...

SO heres what happen (In case you guys care lol)

I called her and told her first off that I was not trying to be rude because I thought that andrea (the girl that did my hair) was such a great girl but that I am really unhappy with my hair

I first told her that I have heard from multiple people that Stripping your hair is not good what so ever on your hair and that I was upset because I was never told what she was doing to my hair in the first place (she told me it was getting dyed brown)

She came back and said that is the ONLY way to dye hair and that Andrea knew what she was doing and on and on like I was an idiot that I weas upset my hair is the color of the sunset.

Then I said ok say this is the process you do and you strip peoples hair..... Dont you tell them that is going to turn orange? I mean kinda important if you ask me. And my FMIL told her the same thing and she told her my hair is orange because "I" am using thewrong shampoo and conditioner. WELL Little does she know Andrea SOLD it to me.... IT the product they sell!!!!!

So then I asked her very politely that I was afraid that andrea will keep doing the same thing over and over and its not like I can just keep trying and seeing what happens.. My hair is already completely damaged from them. So she told me that she will just have andrea call me tomorrow, and thats what it was left at.

SOOOOOOOO

I got home and fuming mad and spoke with my fmil and she has been off and on the phone with the owner saying... this is what is supposed to happen and if I want to come over there right now I can and there "color" specialist will put good conditioner in my hair and tell me what is happening and why".

Seriously now there is a conflict of interest and I dont want to step foot in there again. The problem here is my FMIL got me a $500 GC to get all the stuff so now they have all the money and right now we are fighting with them to get it back..

AGHHHHHHH SO mad.

Am I being a complete bidezilla or do I have a right to be mad here?

Here's what you do: go visit the salon. Sit in the waiting area, prowl the counter, visit with customers. Make a recommendation to get their hair done by Andrea. Show them how beautiful your hair turned out. It's been my experience that no businesses like you hanging around to get your money back. My dad one time threatened to stay on a cruise ship for an extra week when they wouldn't take off a charge he didn't make. His money was promptly returned.

Bottom line, just make sure as many people know where your hair was done, and make sure the salon knows of your recommendations!

Sarah im so sorry this does not sound like fun! I cant believe she commented by saying its the shampoo your using....WTF, they sold it to you! They need to refund your money simply based on the fact that they should have told you they were stripping your hair previous to doing it, thats uncalled for. I would go with another stylist if your able to, it sounds like their dying process is not the fit for you. Dont worry though you have more than enough time to get it fixed. I know isnt this the craziest thing? I dont get it. Even if they say they are right and on and on at least apologize that I am not happy with there service and not completely make me feel like an idiot... If they would have said oh were so sorry your not happy come back in and we can try and get it to what you would like I wouldnt be so upset. But the service is horrible!

Yeah it wasnt the shampoo that made it turn orange, they are just using every excuse other than its there fault. Because when the owner was speaking the my FMIL, jaci (My FMIL) said will if this is the process that you use (stripping hair) then why did it turn orange and dont you think its important to tell people your hair is going to turn orange. She said "it isnt the stripping that made the hair turn orange, its the phosfates in the shampoo she is using that made it turn orange). Well Jaci didnt know I bought THEIR shampoo so it wasnt the shampoo that thurned it orange, it was them!

I just read this thread and I am SO sorry! I don't get PO'd easily but this would really get my engine started. Everywhere I have ever been if your hair doesn't turn out they way you wanted then they are supposed to fix it for FREE! That is extremely poor service that the manager is treating you like this. I'm not one to cause a scene but in this situation I would definitely be at the salon making a point. I really hope this all gets sorted out for you. Most women would be crying.
