Amazing photog for a few hours or great photog for more hours?

Recommended Posts

For me it depends on the difference in the quality. It is really important for me to have pics of the whole day - I would rather pay for someone good for the whole day then someone absolutely phenomenal for a few hours.. I guess if the two photogs being considered are both "good" then it's a no brainer..

If getting excellent top notch artistic photos is a number 1 priority for you I say go with the 4 hour photographer - If you are okay with your reception not being shot professionally.

If just good quality shots are enough and you want your reception shot, go with the whole day.

I got a whole day but my photographer is strictly "journalistic" and candid real photos are important HOWEVER I LOVE the artistic soul that DelSol puts into their photos. It tells a story normally unseen by the typical eye. That is something to appreciate - but so is your money. muscle.gif

BTW, what if you go with the full day photographer... if she reads this shes going to think you think shes only good.

This isn't for my wedding - my sister is an amateur photographer and that's what got us all talking about it. And it has nothing to do with Claudia or Del Sol actual pictures, it was just the fact that Del Sol was about twice the price of Claudia. It could have been any two photographers, it's just those were the two price lists in front of us.

blush2.gif sorry, I didn't mean it to come off like that at all. I LOVE Claudia's pictures - the reason we had her info out is because we're thinking of hiring her. It's just the prices from one photog to the next are SOOOO different. My sister is planning on eventually starting her own wedding photography company. Since she's a huge photo buff she would go with the one that had the best pictures even if it meant less hours. I thought most people would go for more more hours (so nothing gets missed) so we were just wondering what everyone else though.

It is such a hard decision - my cousin is just starting out in the photog business so we were thinking about asking her - in the end I haven't seen enough of her work to know if it's even "good" - We have looked at a number of different options - someone in Mexico, bringing someone in from the US, etc. I think what we will probably end up doing is flying someone down with us for the week. We wanted to capture the wedding "week" - it was important that the pics told the story of the week and we were able to find someone who is new to the destination wedding business which was a bonus for us (price wise) and a bonus for them to build their destination portfolio.

I was in a similar situation and we went with the one w/ more hours. However, I love my photog now! We hired her more than a year ago and you can see how much her work has developed. I really think we lucked out with our photog. Plus, I'd rather have the memories of the whole day and just a few frameable pics, than have way too many pics to frame (of the ceremony) and non of my reception. Just my thoughts.

Chiquita....who did you pick for your wedding in Maui?

I have narrowed it down to a couple...personally, since it is just the 2 of US, I would rather have 4 hours, a great CD with full copyright than a full day with hundred's prints.
