Rehearsal Dinner?

Recommended Posts

I agree with all of the above. Go ahead and have a rehersal. It is nice for just the family and bridal party to be together before the stress of the big day.

Your FMIL obviously wants to do this for you both or she wouldn't have planned it. If she's like my FMIL this tradition is very important to her so it's a small guesture to keep her happy and feel included.

In my experience, rehearsal dinner is for all out of town guests. We're having everyone come to the rehearsal dinner. However, it is costing a fortune considering we're doing it at the AI and it still is costing $85 a head for food/drinks. I'm thinking maybe it was a mistake to do it!

I am in the exact same situation.  I typed up a Wedding Timeline to mail out to the guests 2 weeks before the wedding and it says "Cocktail Hour Rehearsal for Bridal Party at (and the location name)".  Although I haven't sent them out yet.  And NOW my fiance casually mentioned the Rehearsal to people that are not in the bridal party.  I don't know what to do??  I don't want to uninvite these people.  Now I'm thinking I should re-word everything!  If it's just the bridal party its 20 people, otherwise it is 35 people.  And you have to take a shuttle to get there and I doubt the shuttle will hold all 35 people.

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

In order not have to invite guest you can call it Rehearsal Dinner/ Welcome Party. Maybe that will give the guest an idea of what will be going on. I have 32 guest and only 8 or not immediate family but are close friends. So I figured what the heck..just invite everybody and forget the headache about worrying if someone is upset about not being invited.
