OMG - I think we're marrying the same man. He felt that way (the Spring Break thing) about Mexico, and very strongly about Puerto Vallarta in particular. I was like "fine, then YOU find a location." The more he read and the more I learned on this forum and shared with him, the better he felt.

I looked at the links that you posted And also got info from Tammy....looked at pictures etc....didn't see alot of pictures of weddings...but I figure, hell, I'm at the beach, how sucky can it be! Well, Gran Bahia and Grand Palladium actually got back to me quickly, so that is good! As someone else mentioned, it's good to know that if you choose one of htose, they'll be responsive. Dreams and Riu, I've heard nothing from, and I emailed Dreams 2 weeks ago, and Riu 1 week ago! So, that is making me prefer Gran Bahia and Grand Palladium more anyway.

 

Tammy, I want your Grand Palladium info too! Please send it to me.

 

And I will post what I got from Gran Bahia and Grand Palladium in those threads.

 

BUT, both of those hotels saidthat they do not deal with room rates, you have to go through a tour operator... So, I am waiting for estimates on room rates. I think I'm getting close though!!!!

I found a website that gave general prices....I don't know how accurate they are but it gave me a good idea for Grand Palladium....I also went on a website and did the "book online"....putting in dates and people, then they gave me the rate and I got out of there! Hahahah!!!! It looks like a standard room, for 2 people, for 4 nights was $1056 (when I fake booked!)... that other website is Colonial Palladium: Kantenah Palladium all inclusive resort, Quintana Roo, Mexico

Ah, I think my dates (after christmas) might be just late enough that all the sites I go to to try to get an idea, say that they can't go that far in the future! I need to look at those specific dates though because Tammy told me that they are much more expensive than other times of the year. I need to figure out how much so to see if I can still have it the week between christmas and new year like I really want to!!

 

But that site is good, and I am impressed by how quickly they got back to me since Dreams and Riu have just completely ignored me!!

Oh okay.....yeah, my dates are too far advanced as well (Feb 2008 ) but I just keep putting in random days and times....for 2007, just to get a general idea.....

I'm thinking Iberostar or Grand Palladium (as much as I love the riu Palace I think it will be too costly for our guests....

Did you make a pro/con list What are you struggling with How can we help? I'm pretty set on Grand Palladium, though I have no idea why....I think its the outdoor Mayan shower....hahahaha!!!!! I felt like I was never gonna make a decision either, so I just stopped looking for now! Maybe a good idea, maybe bad!

I can totally relate to what you guys are going through. We have one resort that we really like, but it is one of the most expensive resorts in Punta Cana and it is going though a management change at this time so there are a lot of controversial posts on Trip Advisor. It alss doesn't help that some people on there have close ties to the old management so I do not know what to believe... AHHH! This stress!!
