Hi girls!! It looks like i may be a st.lucia bride.. We were planning a Maui wedding, had a location and reception booked and then there were issues with FMIL saying she wasnt going to HI. and I began feeling guilty that it was very far (we're in Boston) a difficult flight for our son and very expensive, maybe too expensive for my closest friends.. We're looking into St. Lucia now.. we are so stressed out about everything though and we're thinking of just going with the original plan in Maui because we're so happy with the location and our planned luau.. I'm really upset about it. I feel ike i'm back to square one.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone could suggest a W/C in St. Lucia or locations.. I', looking for a private beach with a great view.

Also need accomodations.. i'd really like villas or condos for everyone's accomodations. We'll have about 20 people. And something reasonably priced. I dont want everyone to have to spend an arm and a leg. we looked into villas capri and unfortunately i didnt put a hold on the week we wanted, so it was taken today of course sad.gif uggh it's one thing after another. this wedding planning is stressing me out. shouldnt it be a happy time, fun evenhuh.gif

everything was going great until FMIL ruined it for us, i'm so angry with her!

sorry i didnt mean to turn this into a vent lol

if anyone has any suggestions, I would reaaally greatly appreciate it! thanks.

Anyway I feel like I'm back to square

Hey there. Sorry about all the craziness for you. First let me say that if you really want a Maui wedding, then have a Maui wedding. St. Lucia isn't going to be all that much cheaper or easy to get to, plus, it's your wedding, not you FMIL's.

That being said, I absolutely loved my St. Lucia wedding! I'm sorry that Villa Capri ended up getting booked, Kris was wonderful to work with. She helps with several villas, so I would still contact her and ask her what options exist. Unfortunately that is the biggest private villa on the island, so you may not be able to get everyone in one villa.

Many girls have used Awesome Caribbean Weddings and some have used Down the Isle. I've heard good things about both. Technically all beaches on St. Lucia are public, but many of us get married on Pigeon Island which is mostly private. I noticed a couple or two watching our wedding from a distance, but you won't get people sunbathing next to your ceremony or anything like that.

Anyway, I would definitely encourage to go where you want to go. If you end up deciding that is St. Lucia, we're here to help! But don't let people tell you where you have to get married.

Thanks Kristy, I know we should have our wedding where WE want.. but i just feel guilty. i dunno... tickets to st. lucia are half the price and it's less than half of the traveling time it takes to get to HI.

I decided to give St. Lucia a good try.. I spoke to Kris at Villa Capri and she said they have 2 villas available that can accomodate our guests. I'm going to look into Pigeon Island and the W/C suggestions.

Thanks again :)

May I ask what the 2 villas are? We had guests at Villa Bliss which was really nice. Did she also mention Villa Tranquility? Please tell her that Kristy, her May 2009 bride says hi!

I guess I didn't realize how expensive it was the fly to Hawaii. Most of my guests paid about $600 per person to get to St. Lucia. Although with Jet Blue starting to fly there in October, that could really help. Also, if most of your guests are going to be flying with the same airline, be sure to look into group discounts.

Here are a couple of pictures from my wedding at Pigeon Island:

There are also some great ruins you can take pictures at. I don't have my pro pics yet, so I can't really do Pigeon Island justice with these photos, but hopefully it gives you an idea.

If you need ANYTHING else, please ask. I love being able to help others out with all this information I have.

She's right, we paid the fee as well. No problems at all.

As for cost, I think we spent about $15,000. We didn't do an AI resort though, so it could definitely be less because we covered a lot of meals and transportation for our guests.

Hello ladies! I was hoping for more info on windjammer. I've read the few posts on this thread, but has anyone seen its chapel? They mention it on their website, but no pics or any details. My attempt to contact them hasn't worked so far (it's been about a week)...any info would be much appreciated!

Judging from the thread posts, sounds like one can't go wrong at St. Lucia! (and the JetBlue announcement is such a bonus!)
