I heard about Rainforest Hideway, but not sure where it located. If you go have fun.. Martinique sounds good, but we won't have the time or money to go. Everyone is already complaining... Can't please everyone.

How are you plans going? Are you all set now.. Did you pick-up her dress, shoes, etc..? Did you work your flight situation? I think I recall you saying that your Monday flight was canceled.

The Monday flights are still gone. It doesn't affect me, but it does affect some of my guests. Oh well, they'll just have to deal with a layover.

Rainforest Hideaway is in Marigot Bay. I'm the most excited about that restaurant. The food is supposed to be really good and it sounds pretty romantic.

I haven't picked out my shoes yet and my dress should be in any day now. The bridal salon will hold it for me though.

Four months from today!

Hi all i am new to this forum and a St Lucian Bride to be. I am planning on getting married in June 2010. I have found this forum so helpful for information and advice about weddings in St Lucia.

We will be travelling from London, England and have already started looking at prices for hotels and accomodation and it aint cheap. Both me and my FI have never been to St Lucia, but wanted to get married in the Carribean. We both fell in love with the pictures of St Lucia. Given that it is expensive for our guest to join us for our wedding we are trying to make it as cost effective for them as we possibly can. we are planning on staying at the Almond Smugglers Cove, as we have children in our party and its looking like this is one of the cheapest AI resorts for families. I have decided to go with Awesome Carribean weddings to plan my wedding day and wanting to get married at Pigeon Island on either a private beach or cliff view.....any recommendations? We are unsure about our reception at this stage but the beach party looks good. I have heard some of you mention that your booking resturants, do they include a party for you also with music etc?

We are planning on going to Sandels Grande after 7 days at ASC for a further 7 days for our honeymoon.

Could anyone please offer advice on are plans so far we havent booked anything yet and just wanted to make sure where doing the right thing. Does anyone know anything about ASC or Sandels Grande? We need to keep the price down for guest, but are happy to pay whatever it cost for our accomodation for our honeymoon, is Sandels a good choice or is there a better option?

Sorry for bugging you all with my questions, but just really anxious about my decisions and want to be sure before we book.

Hello,

Welcome to the St. Lucia Brides Forum….. I am glad you have chosen St. Lucia like the rest of us. I have heard and seen beauticful pictures of the place and sure you wonâ€t regret having your wedding there. My Fiancé and I as well have never been there, so first time for us as well. I am so excited my wedding is in June only 4 months away… Canâ€t wait.…

Congrats and good luck with your planning… We are hear to help anyway we can. There are a few brides to be that have been before so they can help with more info if needed.

Anyway, here are a few comments on your questions asked. I am using Awesome Caribbean as my wedding planner, so good choice. They are grate!! They can help with planning your accommodations. At first I planned on booking with Windjammer because it was AI, however considering the price and location and that everyone would have to take a shuttle bus, I canceled and booked with Bay Gardens Beach Resort for my wedding accommodations, recommended by AC. Bay Gardens is located near the Caribbean sea beaches and is close to all shops- restaurants, if you are looking for that. Not all-inclusive, but very reasonable As far as Almond, I did a few research and from what I heard it is not all that, especially if you are looking for a nicer beach, reasonable price for all-inclusive though. My Wedding Ceremony will be held at Pigeon Island. My honeymoon is booked with Sandal Grande. I spoke to few people that been there and they had all postive things to say., so great choice... I will let you know how it is when I get back....

I am sure the others would like to comment and give there recommendations as well for consideration.

Good luck!!

Hi there!

Congrats on your engagement and on choosing St. Lucia for your wedding destination. My fiance and I have also not been to St. Lucia before, but fell in love with pictures and had so many people recommend it that we feel great about our choice and can't wait to get there!

We are also using Awesome Caribbean Weddings as our planner and we are getting married at Pigeon Point at the Cliff View location. Immediately after the ceremony we are doing a "photo walk" and get pictures at the Sugar Mill ruins and on the beach. After the ceremony we are having a celebration meal at Jacques. It's just the two of us and one other couple (our best friends) who will be there, so it won't be a full blown reception, but I have heard great things about Jacques and I know they can handle larger receptions.

Congrats again, and if you have any more questions, ask away!

Thanks for your advice. I haven't heard of the resort your staying at, is it room only? I have read reviews about the Almond Smugglers cove and there have been some positive, but also alot of negative and they did mention about the beach too. However, my main concern is the weddding day, which is why i have decided to do a wedding of the resort. I havent booked anything yet, but confussed about where to stay and whether to do AI or meal plans, do you know if food is generally expensive in St Lucia? At the momment flights and accomodation is approx £1500 for 2 weeks, so around $3000 per person, hence why i am trying to find a cheap accomodation, but at the same time i do want the accomodation to be decent for my guest.

Awesome Carribean Weddings have been great and very quick at emailing me back with my questions. Im still undecided on my reception, what have you got planned for yours? How many guest have you got going and how long will you be in St Lucia for?

well its great to talk to another St Lucian Bride and i cant wait to see your pic and review.

Good to hear another couple getting married in St Lucia that hasnt been before. its quite nerve wracking when you have never been, so its good to have this forum to rely on information from other people that know about the island. You havent got long now, you must be so excited. How long will you be there for and where will you be staying? Awesome Carribean Weddings did send me info about Jacques along with a few hours, which me and my FI will have to go through and decide. Hopefully you will be able to let us know how it is when you get back.

Ugh, I just wrote this HUGE response and it didn't go through. Grrr...

Anyway, welcome fellow St. Lucia bride! We're so excited to have you.

I have been to St. Lucia before. FI and I stayed at Coconut Bay in Oct. 2007 and had a great time. You actually may want to look into this resort. It is all-inclusive, kid friendly, and located in the southern end of the island near the airport. This is a much quieter end of the island, so getting some privacy for a beach wedding would be no problem at all. Anyway, just thought I'd throw another idea out there.

For my wedding, we are also gettig married on Pigeon island at the private beach. Afterwards we are going to Jacques for cocktail hour and dinner. After that, we're headed to Villa Capri (where we're staying) for dessert, dancing, and drinks. (Ha ha, I didn't even plan those all starting with "D".) We've hired a band called Ten90 and the reception will be held on the villa's deck. I'm so happy we chose to go the private villa route. The property manager, Kris, is arranging everythign and she is fabulous!

For our honeymoon, we are staying at Orchid Cottage (about 5 minutes away) for 3 nights and then we're off to Punta Cana. I know that sounds a little strange, but we wanted to visit another island while we were down there, and I'll have already been on St. Lucia for a week and a half at that time.

For your honeymoon, another place you can look into is Rendevous. I hear it is similar to Sandals (couples only, AI) but without the commercialism. I think people either love or hate Sandals.

For restaurants, I do not believe it is cheap to eat out on St. Lucia. The last time we were there we only ate at the resort or on tours, but this time we're not staying AI so I've been researching some places. It can definitely get pricey.

You will love St. Lucia, I guarantee it. Congratulations and feel free to ask us whatever you want. We'll do our best to answer!

Hey i did look at Coconut Bay, but we wanted something on the Northern end so that we can have a wedding at Pigeon Island. We got alot of singles coming so we want to be somewhere livey so that they can have a good time too. Once were married then we will want somewhere relaxing for the both of us. We to are now thinking of going to another carribean island after the wedding rather than staying in St Lucia. It works out to be quite cheap. were thinking Barbados, as thats a place that me and FI want to visit.

The Villa sounds like a good idea, but i dont think i want to put all my family together, as we tried this in Florida a few years back and it was hell on earth. They are close, but all have strong personailities, so would work better having own room in a resort.

One of the other girls suggested Bay Gardens resort, which looks lovely. I am starting to think maybe we should do room only rather than AI so that our guest have the flexibility to eat outside of the resort, although im a little worried if food is expensive outside the resort. Also we want to be in Rodney Bay close to nightlife for our guest and to have fun before wedding. Has anyone been to the bars/clubs? What is the nightlife like? Bay Garden Beach resorts also has meal plans so guest can have meals included if this is what they want.

Kirsty how many guest have you got going? The party at the Villa sounds great.

we are still undecided about our reception. We both want a private party. we looked into the Beach party, which is still an option, but it is so expensive. it would also mean that we would have to restrict our number of guest to 30 in order to make it affordable. We are also thinking to find out what facilities they offer for a private function at the hotel. We have checked the Almond smugglers Cove, who give you full use of a resturant, but you still have to pay for meals and drinks even if you are staying there and there prices are steep for what they offer. I am trying to find out what the Bay Garden Beach resort offer for a private function, i have seen pictures online and it looks nice. I tried to email them but no response as yet. Does anyone have a contact for them? Also is anyone else considering a party at the hotel?

Please make suggestions for reception ideas. Thanks.
