AI question

Recommended Posts

If you are staying at an AI does it cover alcohol (and dinner) at the wedding--if all guests are staying at the AI resort? Im thinking..tables on the sand or something like that where you are not in a section of a restaurant. I also read someone brought their own alcohol? maybe this was not an AI resort, but i was just curious why you would do that..? I know that a lot of the hotel wedding packages include dinner/drinks or champagne or something for a certain number of people and then after that is per head. what im asking is...for that set number of people (i think some say for 20) is it included? Im a little confused...thanks!confused.gif

It really depends on the resort. From what I've seen, they do charge a set up fee (per person) for a private event. Some brides just made reservations for their group at a restaurant w/in the hotel in order to save this cost.

You should inquire w/ in your resort (or resorts) you are considering).

We are having our rehearsal dinner at one of the restaurants at our AI resort. Not a private dinner, so it's free (included).

But our reception will be on the beach -- so it's $2500 for a buffet dinner, open bar, etc for 3 hours.

Just b/c it's an AI does NOT mean that you will not have extra costs for your wedding and reception. Usually you WILL have added costs, it seems, unless you have a very small group and do one of the free wedding packages.

Our reception will end up costing us about $3500 and the wedding will be about $600.

We're getting married at Dreams and the drinks and food are included. They are charging us a $28pp set up charge to put everything together plus allocate wait staff exclusively for our group. Out of all the AIs I researched Dreams were the only ones doing this. Most AIs charge you for both food + drinks separately if you want a private dinner.

I agree it is very resort dependent... but even w/in the resort it is dependent on what and how much you want.

From my research at least, a lot of the AIs have a base "free" package and the options to upgrade to larger packages or to upgrade what you want. I know a few brides here have stuck w/ the free package, brought some stuff from home and had beautiful weddings.

At RIU they have a free option for dinner - but the catch is that it is semi-private and limited to 50 people. Some people are happy with that (we are!) but some people would rather have a private reception with separate tables and centerpeices and what not. So RIU has different options for private things... but at an additional fee.

We are doing the free, semi-private dinner the resort offers... then paying $10/person for a reception on the beach (to keep the bar open).
